Well fellas, the air compressor I got from the BX turned out to be crap. The quality was shoddy to begin with, but the kicker was the drain valve on the bottom of the tank - it doesn't seal at all so the tank never builds pressure.

That, and I wasn't too keen on pluging up the 120V to my off-base house which is 100V. I didn't want to get one off base cause they cost an arm and a leg plus I can't read the directions.

ARRGHH!!!

I drove around all night and went to like 5 DIY places and finaly found one off base that I didn't have to mortgage my house for. It's surprisingly exactly the same as the one I already got, but the quality is much better and all the valves use rubber o-rings. Needless to say it seals perfectly and I'm back in business. Plus, it's very similar to the one I already have, so no directions needed.

Plugged it up tonight to test, and it's perfect.

Thank goodness.

Watch out now, I may just have to go get an airbrush and do some damage to some new TARMAC FACTION liveries!

Actually, ya'll know if I really did get an airbrush it'll take me forever to finish a body. It takes me long enough as it is to do them now with the spray cans!

LOL!

Robert,

Those aerial shots are insane! Looks like a professional track!

I'm with Josh on the Seabees building us a stand (if they are still up to it). I do remember you saying that was doable a while back, but we passed on it because we thought we had the ISO.

Now that we dont, is it possible to re-attack with the Seabees?

Man, I'm still in awe on those aerial shots...

I'm gonna pull them from the site and send them to some folks on Kadena, in hopes of securing another ISO. I think when I tell them only a handfull of guys are making this happen, all on there own dime with slave labor, etc, I may get more support to secure another ISO.

I'll keep everyone posted, but we should start exploring other options for a drivers stand, etc.

Thanks for the pics, it is just what I needed. It looks great. You guys are doing a great job. Sorry I can't be there to assist you guys. Soon enough though. That is too bad about the ISO I hope you can find another one or another solution to the problem. I am sure the Seabees could put together something great for all to use.

I think we should get the 2 10' ISO's if someone can acquire DRMO stuff. It would give us either a 10'x16' stand or a 20'x8' stand. 8' tall. I like the 10x16 idea as it gives more space on both track sides.

I don't think a built stand is an option. It would have to be anchored down, which means putting posts in the ground which would probably require a dig permit.

Even though scaffolding sounds like a good idea, I can't see safety buying into that over an ISO....

Great pics Rob!

Doesn't hurt to try though. If we keep to one idea...like the iso...we may never get one. I think we need to be open to other ideas and pursue other avenues while we wait for DRMO.

I am working very hard in trying to secure another ISO. Got a call from DRMO this morning (yes, THEY called ME) and was told I can have one of the 20 Foot ISO's because the original requestor didn't pick it up in time (which is what happended to us the first time around).

I already aranged transport and again, I have a very narrow window of opportunity to do this. I can get it moved from Kinser directly to Courtney TOMORROW.

With that said, there are 2 snags...

1) I no longer have the ability to pick up stuff from DRMO (my letter has expired and will not be able to get it re-instated in a timely manor due to the availablility of the approving official).

2) Not sure what shape this ISO is in. I don't want to go up there tomorrow only to find out it's a rust bucket, no doors, etc.

Right now, Robert is working on #1, and if he is able to find someone from Camp Services that has an account with DRMO I'll go up there this afternoon and take care of #2.

Keep your fingers crossed.

I also sent a formal request to an agency on base seeking help in the following areas:

1) Use of a tamper and portable roller to finish shaping/grading/packing the tracks

2) Donation of more tubing to finish marking off the course lanes

3) Some type of water tank to store water for us to maintain/groom the track

4) Donation of a generator so we have power on site to charge batteries, etc.

5) Donation of a 20 foot ISO (connex) to double as a storage area for
track supplies, etc, and also as a drivers stand to drive from (in case DRMO doesn't pan out)

Again, keep your fingers crossed.

I would, but I'm going to return it today at the BX. I need to put that money towards the one I just got off base, and I'd hate to sell you something for what I paid for it knowing it doesn't even work.

Didn't make it up there today...didn't want to drown. Anyways, if the weather holds up I'll be up there Thursday afternoon if anyone cares to join me!
