He's right, the firestorm isn't the best racer out there. It's pretty heavy and not very durrable. If you want to buy locally here in japan they have the HPI Savage line, and also i seen an older model revo for sale and the kadena hobby shop. But, that place is pretty expensive. If you want to stay nitro you can go to Amainhobbies.com. They have a pretty extensive line of offroad vehicles that will suit your needs. Shipping out here to the PSC boxes is actually quite reasonable. I have a Revo Platinum edition for sale, if your interested shoot me a pm.

Since we'll have a good track for nitro's I'd go with the Revo-by far the most durable.

But since I'm not a nitro guy here are my suggestions...

2wd-Traxxas Slash for the budget guy who wants to race...
4wd truck-nitro savage-some parts available local, better for bashing
4wd truggy-E Revo (stock or BrushLess)/Caster K8T RTR comes BL
4wd Buggy-Caster Fusion RTR 748 (runs one 2s lipo) Best deal from Casterracingusa.com for $550, includes 2.4 radio system, lipo, BL motor and ESC, betchya he'll ship free to you too. Another lipo can be added later once you get used to driving it.

I'm in the mood for a Baja 5b SS...

Anybody got connections on the pool lanes for track lanes? Also need some one who speaks Japanese to stop by a shop that can get the black flex tube in bulk for us. I'll put in some money to buy it.

I also have a generator to put out at the track if we don't get denki, plus a small compressor.

I get back the 30th...hope its close to being done....

Our time to get the track built with the current crew of SeaBees is running very short. The Camp Commander here at Courtney is aware of our time constraints and is trying to push environmental to sign off. When I talked to our point of contact with the Seabees yesterday he seemed pretty confident that the next crew would be just as willing to help us out. If we have to wait for the next crew we may not be able to get this done until August or September. I will keep you all posted with updates.

Also a good place to buy from that ships internationall is tower hobbies dot com their prices are ok and they have a pretty good selection.

I also wanted to ask you guys if any of you have ever seen one of the sc8's run on a track, i was going to buy one when they first got released but the owner of the hobby shop said that handle like crap and are kind of underpowered for their weight.

Another good site to buy from is tower hobbies dot com they have a pretty good selection and are ok on their prices.

Also i wanted to ask you guys if any of you have seen a associated SC8 run before, i was in the market for one when they first came out but the owner at the LHS in california told me that they really dont handle all that good and that they are underpowered for their weight, just wondering if anyone else has any input on em.

I like Tower now but almost quit them a few months back. It took 3 months for my stuff to arrive and they wouldn;t do anything about it. I finally talked to a guy that squared me up and sent me another esc. Now I just make sure I order with prioity mail.
Their prices are crazy unless you are in the supersaver club. It is definately worth the $9.99. I hear alot of good stuff about A-Main but I have never ordered through them.

BTW, Tower has a closeout on the TRF501Xfor $342. Add the coupon below and get it less than $300. That is pretty much stealing it.

Place a qualifying order for a limited time and we'll subtract up to $60.00 from the total. All you have to do is click on the appropriate ad number in the list below and it will be placed in your shopping cart. The more you order, the more you save.

Well, no word from environmental yesterday. If I don't hear something first thing Monday morning we're probably gonna be delayed until the next crew arrives.

WARNING: Off Topic

Check out hese new batteries: http://www.maxamps.com/products.php?cat=225
They are supposedly as strong as lipos but need no low volt cut-off and do not catch fire (Jon). Little bit pricey

ah, grasshopper, the batteries may not catch fire, but the ESC will...one of the Okinawan guys fried a Novak AND Castle Creations Monster on LIFe batteries...

So, I'm guessing we're trackless still....chemfrk, farmer any "pressure" for environmental to get this signed off?

I'm back on Okinawa--two weeks with no family here, so my Slash track is open and I'll be working on my 5b and the dune buggy...
