guys, this week im gunna make my first run out at family, but i got a few questions:

What class is most popular: Mod Truck or Stock Truck?
Is a Transponder required?
Do practices run all at the same time or in classes as well?

They have not started their racing program yet. Scott told me last Friday night that he was going to start racing this Friday night, but I think he forgot this is Valentine weekend. I will not be there. I am hoping the next Friday night ( Feb 20) he will start his racing program. I know a lot of racers are waiting.

A AMB transponder is required. He should rent them to novice, but I guess not.

Practice starts at 11 am when they open. Cost is $6.00. When he starts racing I think racing will cost $12.00.

There should be plenty of racers for stock buggy and truck. Maybe enough for mod buggy and truck. We will see who shows up.

The track and facilities are great. The track is small, but it will work if he only has 5 man heats. You will need to gear down way down. If you want my final gear ratio let me know. The tire of choice is step pins, use firm inserts bomb1.

It is going to be great fun when he starts his racing program. Any questions I will be happy to answer.

Just got back from a day of practice. They've changed the lay out a little again. There's a massive double going through the center of the track and gone to running clockwise, like you should. (except I should be running counter clock for 4wd. if you want to be pickey) Car was hooked up and I like the new layout a lot.

Almost every racetrack that uses AMB has the transponders. Range from 60-80 bucks depending on how badly you get ripped off...

You can get them from Scott @ Family. I think he's selling them for $70.

Personally I think we are getting gouged and drilled up the bottom for these transponders. Two years ago when I purchased my two transponders they cost $56.00 at So Cal, now they cost $83.00 at So Cal. I will do some research on the Internet I think you can still get them for around $60.00.

I think because all the tracks have gone to AMB timing systems if you want to play you have to pay. I feel these transponders are great for running a race, but now a new racers has to put out more money for the hobby. I just wonder how much these transponders really cost to make.

We already have a low turn out; this is not going to increase the numbers of new racers. So Cal has finally got smart. Novice racers can rent the transponders for free, and they dropped the rental charge from 5 to 3 dollars a night.

I agree about the transponder renting deal. I think that's a must. At least for the novice guys.
