I can feel your frustrations traveling to L.I. with heavy traffic all the time.
We race on-road outdoors during the warm season at this track:

John's Outdoor Asphalt Track in Nanuet, N.Y.

But if you want to race indoor, this place in Saddlebrook races Mini-Z's
in the main floor and starting next week they'll start the 1/12 scale and
1/18 scale in a nice layout track downstairs:

As far as indoor off-road, nothing that I know of in this area.
Hope this helps!

They run indoor electric offroad at The Barn in Chester NY, Friday nights and Sunday afternoons. Just under a half hour ride from where Rt 17 and 287 meet in Mahwah NJ. 2wd buggy, truck, 4wd, Slash and they want to get 1/8th BL going this year.
