Default Tracks in or near Rockford, IL?

Anyone know of decent on & off road tracks in or near Rockford, IL? We will be traveling there in a couple months to visit family. Might even move back there depending on a potential job transfer.

Thanks!

Default New off-road track in Marengo, Illinois

A new track just opened in Marengo, IL. It is called Xtreme R/C. Located on Route 23. There is a posting on this forum showing some pictures. They just opened Saturday 8-9-08. That is somewhat close to Rockford, IL.

I work in Rockford, IL (currently). There is Rockpile 1.5 hours north. There is my track (outbackrc) a half hour to the east. I think there is a famous one in Peoria, a couple hours south. For indoor carpet, there is RC Performance in Madison, 1.5 hours north. Plus the others mentioned earlier.

Thanks guys. We race off raod and on road. Out here in SoCal there are tracks everywhere. My 12yo is better at on road, but loves the thrill of off road. He took TQ & 1st in the Main in only his third Novice race (only second race with his own car). We're really hoping we can find a good on road so he can continue growing.

Regarding off road, we need to put our heads together and get a track built somewhere near Rockford. What's the general RC hobby vibe in the Rockford area? Is there a good hobby shop there that would help promote one?

I don't mind driving an hour or two a couple times a month, but it's too far to practice. If the RC scene is a drag, I might just sell the racing stuff and focus on 1:1. I'd MUCH rather keep racing RCs though. My son and I have a blast together!

General off-road vibe in Rockford. Hmmmm.....Let's see.. I built my own track.

There is a world-class track 2-3 hours away -- Leisure Hours in Joliet. They do both on-road and off-road.
