Kearny High School Track

Has anyone heard or been to the track that was built on the high school grounds at Kearny high school? I was there last week and was able to practice for free. I went there today and nobody was there. Does anyone know of a web page or anything that has a schedule of there practice days so i dont drive up there for no reason.

I heard that they mainly race on Sunday mornings, but it isn't an every week thing from what I was told... Chris usually updates when he'll be there on his thread.

Komet R/C Race Park Update

To all:

For now- We are still at a practice state. Today marked a milestone. the south end was fenced off, and the pit area is now gated.

The course- we will no longer need to dig in, just a minimum of maintanance now-you know flex rake, water. set... drive.

Everyone seems to be happy with the course. We are planning a major track tear down in august.

Now we are working on the comestics of the track.

More importantly, I've begun the task of sponsorship hunting.
I began talking to a few people last week.

I do want to thank Dave Irwin of Dave's Porting and Pistons, Chuck Gordon, Discount Hobby Warehouse, Homebar Liquor and Deli, Manny Lozano, Courtney Olsen, The San Diego Unified School District, John Riego Del Dios, & Traxxas for their sponsorship, our dependable volunteers and Club board officers for carving a track out of nothing...Guys behing the scenes like Glen Krause, Randy Castro, Jerry Palermo offering techincal advice with track layouts and drivers stand drawings. All of you are very special and there is not another crew better than you. Most importantly thanks to Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for making all this happen.

My plan is to have that drivers stand built by the 4th weekend in august. If I have, to I will charge practice fees $5.00 per driver to raise the money to get that stand built if I don't get any additional sponsors. If we end up charging, we will only charge until we raise enough $$ to pay for the stand. After that we will not charge for practice. We only wish to charge for racing. I hope everyone can understand the predicament that we are in right now. Komet has a deadline to meet!

The master plan is to be racing by the 2nd and 4th saturdays
starting in september.

You are all welcome to join us at Komet.

Have a good one and god bless.

Late..

Chris H.

Chris, I dont think anyone is going to hate you for charging 5 bucks to practice, heck, setup a donations jar if you dont feel right asking for paid practice time. This isn't free to you, so why not charge to get done what needs to be done.

JasonC 07-21-2003 07:19 PM

i would pay $15.00 to practice, but i cant get there at 8 am in the morning on a sunday.

Randy Caster 07-21-2003 07:43 PM

8am on Sunday is the hard part, that's for sure...
