Wow, i Just found this thread.

For what it is worth, maybe you should get insight from prosperous tracks like Revelation raceway in Pamona. Rev Raceway once had both an on-road and off-road track. From my understanding, there were city regulations about the parking lot that made Rev Raceway to decide only one track, either on-road or off-road track. Due to the large popularity of 1/8th racing, they chose off-road. And WOW, what a crowd. They have like 12 to 14+ heats. They have like 4 classes of 1/8th buggy. Beginner, novice, intermediate, and expert. Something like that.

But at the same time, we do have FHR and the new ARC raceway for 1/8th off-roading. So, maybe a focus on on-road will be good. That way, we can get some 1/12 and 1/10 pan cars out there. If that's the case, I will be getting me a 1/12th scale!!!

But what ever you do, do not half do it JUST to make everyone happy. If it's gonna be an off road, MAKE IT OFF ROAD. If it's gonna be on-road, MAKE IT ON-ROAD!!!

But like I said, for what it is worth, this is my opinion. I see this thread is a little heated, so hopefully I have not offended anyone.

Good luck on your final decision.

Man I could not get those cars to set up back in the day. Thats why I stuck with my 10L and 10LSS...

Discount on Saturdays... Get there around 3-4 o'clock... set up charge batteries... hahha 1200's and 1400's gear the car for 4 1/2 minutes just in case you hit something you could still make time.

Alright who remembers running 6 minute 4 cell Mod there? OVAL!

we should rename this thread a trip down memory lane. Just think that it's funny. I don't want anyone to meet me at the track.

haha i've got about 100 or so old kr1300s, 1400s, 1700s, if anyone wants some collectors items

taking a hint from ray , any news on the track? Any papers been signed yet for the building? (maybe already answered but I might have missed it in the many waves of comments left by people yelling at random new people in an attempt at driving them away.)

I still think a turf track would cut down on maintenance, mess, tire wear as joel says, and get better traction. If it's tried and it doesn't work, what's the worst, you throw it away and waste a bit of money, which in the grand scheme of this whole track, isn't much money.

FHR tried that stupid hard clay setup something like 2-3 years ago in an attempt at getting better traction and having a track that wouldn't constantly get rutted up and I remember Jim bitching endlessly about it and in the end they went back to that regular dirt (correct me if I'm wrong, my mind isn't what it used to be). Plus 30 dollars in tires a night... Doesn't revdup want to use the same material, or close to it? Not thrilled about that.

Well the new dirt was called Yellow Fill. It is used for foundations under houses and on some BMX tracks. The dirt was designed to be run dry but everyone cryed about the rocks. Then it was about tire wear. Strangly is wasn't about the rutts though. So all the regulars decided to mix the old and new together. The old is Decomposed grannet. If you have and Q's about the old track please let me know.

For the new track it should be clay if it is indoors.

Ah. Well I knew it was hard and sweepable so I thought it was clay. Perhaps real clay would be fine then. What kind of toll does a night of racing on real clay take on a set of tires?

I'd say that you could get 2 nights of 19t if you were really picky. I would go about 4-5 racedays on a set of tires at socal.

Hey RevDupraceway,

I am definitely looking into getting my 1/10 MF2 off the shelf, but I was just wondering if the off-road track will be big enough to accommodate some 1/8 electric racing? This class hasn't blew up yet, but I do see major companies already catering to this growing class.

Check it out:

Good Luck with the shop.

That's what I want to hear. But even if he does allow the 1/8th scale electric, it will be hard to pilot them in the tight quarters he has planned for off-road. I wish he would wait on the on-road personally and focus on a larger/better off-road track.

I would not mind getting in to the on road scene, but if I can run my 1/8th scale electric Losi 8ight at this new track (comfortably), I'd probably rent a room there.

Guess I'll just get back in to 1/10th scale again? Liked it a lot for the ten years or so I ran it, but 1/8th is way more fun. I can drive harder and it is more thrilling to pilot such a large beast.
