Team orion are very good batteries, Venom not so good. I had more returns, issues with venom then any other battery although they are usually cheaper. Reedy are good solid packs as well.

there are 3-4 main classes at ARC on a "normal" night.
you never really know what to expect as far as a good or bad turn out.

1/8 SPORTSMAN (buggy and truggy) witch is pretty much beginner, normally the biggest class anywhere between 10 and 18 drivers on a "regular" night.

1/8 EXPERT, normally only buggy unless there is enough expert truggys

1/8 PRO, same thing as expert.

SLASH, kinda hit or miss on having enough drivers for a class

electric guys normally run with the nitros unless there is enough to for a separate class.

there aren't many restrictions at ARC as long as you have an 1/8 scale electric or nitro your pretty much good to go. you MUST have a personal transponder.

i dont really know of any other tracks in the san diego area. i dont really travel down that way for racing. some other people might know more about that.
the track is located at VAIL LAKE RV CAMP GROUND about 10-12 miles east of the 15 fwy on CA 79 south.
check www.arcraceway.com for a map, there might be an address there also.

a personal transponder is a device with a unique id number that is attached to your car that is used to count your laps. there is a AMB wire placed on the track and every time u go around (a lap), the wire tracks your unique id and keeps track of your lap time and send the information to a computer. that is how all the lap times and laps are kept track during a race.

they are all good in my opinion. it's all about the driver. you can not go wrong if you go with either losi, mugen, AE, Hot Bodies, or Kyosho.

if u look at my signature, you'll see im pro-electric. for me, electric is a lot more enjoyable since there is less maintenance and you do not need a pit crew just to race. both has pro's and con's.

nitro pro's:
1) sound
2) unlimited runtime with fuel
3) strong class and well developed

electric pro's:
1) cleaner
2) no engine tuning
3) no starter box
4) no glow ignitor nor glow plug ($5 a piece)
5) no need for a pit crew for you to race
6) no need to worry about someone being faster than you
7) TONs of bottom end to clear those big jumps at the last minute
8) no need to worry about engine stalling
9) not getting irritated because your car is on it's back and the turn martial is taking to long to flip your care back over before your engine stalls
10) paying $40 to $50 a gallon for gas every other week or month

im sure i can think of more!!!

well i have changed my mind on the buggy or truggy because i do not have enough money right now and it cost atleast 500.00 for everything so i am going the slash route ether box stock or mamba powered (so i can run with nitro.)
