I was going to let a technician answer this but this is the deal, the "Y" and "D" letters Stand for Wye and Delta they refer to the the pattern of windings used in the can to acheive a specific Kv rating. It is invisible to the end user.

By the way this is Sam...Looking forward to racing with you again Mike...do you still have that Mugen you bought from me? I think you only raced it a couple times. Rob (the new owner) has an MBX-5R...I think. I would like to run my ancient gas truck but there probably won't be any...maybe I could run with the electrics even if it's a disadvantage. I also have a Slash for my son (6) to run and I'll run that if he doesn't go.
Do you have any interest in 1/8 electric? Or could you give me your thoughts good, bad or neutral?

Ill put my 2 cents in here. Had an RC8E HATED IT!!! On the other hand I like the concept of electric 1/8th I think my whole problem was I had the mamba monster esc and motor combo and I couldnt get it figured out. I spent over 4 hours total on the phone with castle and they couldnt figure it out either. So that kind of left a bad taste in my mouth for electric 1/8th scale. If I see some at the track that are pretty consistent and seem to be "bug" free I might jump back on board

Let me just say how much of a pain in the ass, changing these batteries in these transponders are. My arms hurt, from getting these things apart. I got home from work at 5pm and just now finished opening the 8th one. It is 11:30pm

Yes, but I don't want to spend the $$ on the mount, speeder, motor, LiPo's, charger, etc. If everyone was jumping over to electric scale then maybe I'd drop the money to make the change. I've only ran a couple for 10 minutes or so and they are very fun to drive. They are very smooth if the speeder/motor combo is setup properly. Much cleaner than nitro and no worries about flaming out, getting douched at pit stops, etc. I'm not sure on how they are on run time but I think that 15 minute mains are not a problem. You should see about a 1/2 second per lap difference (slower) when you have the nitro motor in. I don't personally care if you run it with the nitro buggies but it wouldn't be fair. Are you going to Motorama next month...I'm thinking about it but I might just run my kids slash...the fumes last year in the nitro building were killing me. They are sure to have a decent electric scale turnout.
