Default Long Island, NY - Sunrise Mall

Hey guys -

I am new here. I am trying to look for some on-road nitro racers who would like to join me. I race at Sunrise Mall in Massapequa by Macy's. They recently paved all of the parking lots on a smooth black asphalt. The pavement is very clean for the time being.

I race a r40 with hop ups/os tz 5 port. I usually race alone and practice with cones. I always have people watch and ask questions (they can be annoying!). I have unable to find dedicated weekenders like myself. I try to race saturday/sundays. I also race during the the evening as the parkinglot is lit.

If anyone is intrested in racing here, post below -

What's up. I used to race Deer Park train station a lot but the guy with the equipment moved away so lately I have been racing in Brooklyn at Floyd Bennett Field or upsate at Pro Speed Raceway. There is some great racing there. Top notch competition. You should definately check it out.

Sounds cool! Do you just mess around in the parking lot or do you set up some kind of track? Be nice to people that ask questions. An interested spectator this week may be a new racer next week.

And please post this on LI Hobby Info.com A lot of people read it (though not many post) and it's more likely they'll see it there than here.

Thanks. I posted a message over there.
As to your question. I usually bash around with cones. There is a nice little niche of the parkinglot that rarely has cars. If I had more people I would be willing to construct some crude temporary track. The pavement right now is absolutely mint.

Take care -

be very careful there, I know for a fact that if dont have the malls permission they will throw you out... On the grounds if anyone gets hurt, It will fall under there liability insurance... believe it or not, mall property is privite property... You might not want to draw a big crowd thay way you stay under there radar, and still have fun .....

I should drag out my nitro's.... I got them up and running, even painted up a new body for my NTC3 and then put them away...

Sureal do you drive?

If you do hook up with folks in Floyd Bennete Field on Saturday and Sundays. When there is no race scheduled, you can run your car on the track.

I too run an R40 but this one only sees the track as the parking lots destroy my belts.

Since it's raining, I doubt anyone will be there this weekend. So get your electric stuff and go to Willis!

Southern State west to Belt Parkway west (toward Verranzano Br.) to Flatbush Ave. South, Rockaways (exit 11, I think)(make sure your seat belt is on, PD likes doing checkpoints there). Once you're on Flatbush Ave. Floyd Bennett is on your left, but the entrance is about 1/2 mile from the parkway. There's a traffic light just before the toll plaza for the bridge, make a left there into the park. As soon as you pass the guard shack there's a parking lot to the right. Park in there, and the track is a little further into the park. You can pull next to the track to unload, but you can't leave the car there, you must park in the lot.

How come that track couldn't have been there when I worked out of FBF? I'd have been playing every day....
