Sir Gooney's Track Layout 1.0
This road course actually seems like it is going somewhere, with a transponder system possilby right around the corner.
I'm gonna try to attach a rough pic of what we are thinking about. Hope it works.
\
FYI...I spoke to John this afternoon, he has some improved weighted barriers ready to go with candy stripe and everything. The next few weeks are going to be critical as we fine tune.
If you're like me, racing somewhere is better than dreaming of a place that we can't get to, so come on out and share your ideas.
If you are new to this, or have questions about it- come on out and check us out- I'm sure the class of guys showing up will impress you. Rockit, John, Mike, Jeff, KnoxVegas are all great guys and good competitors. Spec classes, motor limits etc will absolutely be in play, but guarenteed there will always be an open "survive the track" class for people who don't like rules I'm in.
No egos here! Just fun, so Run what ya Brung.

We are making fine tune adjustments next week, but we still need a driver's stand, track grip solution (sugar water/cheap soda), and a lap counter. All 3 may be in play for sunday- weather permitting.

The cheapest and easiest way (that I've seen) is to get 3 or 4 2 liter bottles of the store brand grape/orange/cherry soda and poke a small hole in the top of the cap. Shake the bottle up and spray the track.

Kind of getting more excited about the potential of this place IMO there is no reason not to build a couple of really small jumps and bring in the sct crowd to get the attendance up, get more interest in the on-road and add another class for alot of us. They are making foams and rubber street sct tires now. I think it would pull in plenty of people to make it worth the owners while for a transponder system and the upgrades.
Another thought on the adding sct's . . . if there were plans for some chicane sections like were there Sunday, maybe just build the backsides of those into jumps for the sct's and just run the scts backwards and nothing would need to be moved.

Johnnie is good with the sugar water idea. It will be the beginning of many traction secrets we will have to figure out.
I cut about 200 feet of track barrier. it should be enough to lay out Julio's course.
I spoke with Art today about what we are doing. He thought it sounded like a great idea. He is allowing us to borrow his AMB to use for the road course.
I built the transponder bridge using 1" PVC. So barring no computer complications we should have lap counting system in place
OK... all this has been very expensive for me... If we get 12 racers this Sunday it will cost $1.42 per racer. Yeah I know it's expensive, but if you are gonna play you are gonna pay!

Great Idea! With as popular as the SCTs are that would be a great way to build interest from a already large base. I should know, you already 'got' me over to the dark side.
AND, selfishly, I can run two classes on top of being a heck of a lot of fun!
