Glad y'all are lovin' the new cells. They're stupid-fast--ask Schreff.

Anyway, another great weekend of racing at Horsham and the local boys performed flawlessly. There were nearly 50 entries (A-E) in stock. Qualifying 1-6 was:

1. Schreff
2. Strasnick (I gave him one of my motors, that's why )
3. Koway
4. Fairtrace
5. Williams
6. Cuffs

First five cars in qualifying all ran 22 laps. Schreffy was knocking on 23 for a while and set another new track record. Man, he was wheeling on that thing.

The main was pretty ugly--not like the last few weeks where it was clean. Ended up 1. Schreff, 2. Koway, 3. Strasnick. Not sure after that. I was in the back with Larry after both of us sitting on the pipes in the first turn. Oh well, we still had a great time. The track was great and the team had a great time together again.

Oh yeah, we also had Fast, Fast Freddy wheeling his ride into the 'B' once again and Al Sodano actually really running well in 1/12. Great job, suckas.

Also, wanted to mention that: at the Gate they had around 40 drivers in stock touring and Dan Hartman qualified 5th in the A and finished 2nd overall. Good run, Danny-boy.

Default Interference Issues

Hi guys,
For those of you that don't know me I am Darren Johnston, the Express team driver from New Zealand.
I thought all the Express guys would be the most knowledgeable bunch of RC Racers around so I will see if you can help me out with a problem I haven't been able to get rid of.
I have racing for about 20 years now and have never really been subjected to
interference issues, that is until this year.
At a big international race we had in January I TQed in mod and everything was great. Then it came to the finals and my car wouldn't sit on the grid by it's self. It was stuttering all over the place. I had to get someone to hold the car until just before the hooter went. For the second and third final I tried changing crystals and recievers but the problem was still there. I was lucky and still managed to win the race because once the race was under way I had no issues.
Then throughout the year my car has been mainly fine and not had any real issues. Although I have had my car creep forward on the start line a few times as I am walking to the stand for a race.
Then this past weekend just gone I had issues at another race meeting we were doing. It was a big demonstration at a show and there were thousands of people watching throughout the weekend.
Once again most of qualifying was fine with no issues but as soon as the final came up I had issues with interference. The car at first wanted to turn left in one particular right hand corner. That race had to be aboandoned because of computer timing issues. So in the re run I stood at the other end of the stand and the car was fine in the previous corner that had problems but had issues in another corner at the other end of the track.
I ended up third but the race was definately win able as I believe by finals I had the best car on the track.

Here is what I run: BMI TC4 always in Mod Class
Reedy Ti motors (standard two small capacitors and Schottky diode)
LRP QC2 with the smaller of the capacitors from the Worlds competition kit.
LRP comp reciever 27 mhz
Sanwa M8 transmitter

I will start with the easiest scenario's:
Do you think it could be the capacitors I am running on the motors? Or something else to do with the motors. (I am really interested to hear what John Tag thinks of this possibility)
Could it somehow be the LRP reciever? I could put the original Sanwa reciever back in.
Could it be the position of the LRP reciever in the car? Carbon Fibre issues???
I have tried various crystals so I don't think it is those.
Or could it be the transmitter wandering of range?
Or could it be something else I am not thinking of?

Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks guys.

Darren

I have had glitching problems for some time now. For me the JR R-1 running PCM and now with the Spektrum system in my R-1 and all glitching has stopped. I found out a few things over the time I was glitching. The more I neated wired my car the worse I glitched (I normally keep all wires neatly tied up and bunched together). When I cut a motor and didn't break the motor in long enough I would glitch for the first few laps and as the race went on it glitched less. The more carbon fiber the car had the more I glitched (from a BMI type graphite vs a tub chassis) Tub was always better.

Things I did to solve this was not have my wires so bunched together. Used electrical tape under my aluminum motor mount to help ground it better. Used 2 pieces under my reciever and my speedo. Ran longer antenna tubes and didn't overlap my antenna over the tube.

The best improvement was the JR R-1 in PCM as this stopped it all and never glitched while in PCM mode. Had it over a year and no hits when in PCM mode or when running the spektrum. If I run mod I would use the Spektrum capacitor that plugs into the receiver that stores a little energy so the receiver can't go below a certain voltage.

Not sure if any of this will help but when I had all my problems these are the things I tried. Good amountof fellow Team Express drivers have seen me when glitching and when I fixed it. It was not fun glitching and I can tell you what you already know...............glitching is NO FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey FreddyB,

Hows your back holding up.... got any B....e...D... exercise lately
to test your recovery rate on your back??

Sorry.. I went to Boston with my bro to check out his job
But, I got my yokomo/brokomo ready for you to crash into...

I still need few parts to complete my RDX as i broke my front cvd because i raced against my neighbour's toy' r us hammerH2, and I got beat

He clipped on the butt of my car

and my brand spanking new RDX went into the """sewer drainer "" in her virgin voyager run..

I will try to make it this weekend.. as I heard we going have a new layout..
new layout ==> more crashing.... at least for me.

Spektrum all the way. I was having glitching problems at a few tracks, got hooked up with the spektrum and problems are solved everwhere. I even run the reciever wire short and pigtailed up on top of te reciever and have had no problems even on huge 1/8 dirt tracks.

Ming that sounds bad.............A sewer drain. Lucky you fished it out of the sewer drain. Could be worse you could of got beat by the Toys R US car and then had a real car drive over your Corally. Gotta think of the bright spot on this one.

luckly... there wasn't any rain during this weekend...
so my RDX was dry and clean... .. that was the lucky part....

Jon,

I think those 1.2V are going to help me DNF/DNS much much faster
First corner -> ming passes 3 cars in the Z main -> crashed in the first corner -> flip out of the course and landed on Freedy's Xray -> Freddy did not start because Ming's Corally bent freddyls xray alum bulk head, front and rear left side.

Freddy,

I will wheeel my brokomo and broko your xray-mo

Tag,

Sorry.. my lovely companly is slaving me to cali for some system training first 2 weeks of dec. >__<..... since i can't enter the event.. i'll buy another eXpress motor...
