Whats the difference between the express certified motors @ $99 USD and the Trinity ones @ $149 given they are the same base motor. Is the Trinity one better?

From what I have read, Trinity and Express both go thru a similar process to hand tune a motor for best performance. There seems to be some uncertainty about exactly what Trinity does when they build a Certified motor. Some think it is taking parts from the best 5% of each batch. Some think that Trinity has been doing this long enough to know exactly where the cutoff is for the top 5%.
John Tag is very open about how he tunes motors, what his selection process is and how he will tweak a motor for you. That is reassuring and he does this at a very reasonable price.

Just got an Express Motorsports Tornado. I've had a Kill Shot before and it ran great, although I've had better luck with Reedy motors since then. But , I decided to try one again. I now have a tester / analyzer and was a bit surprised by the readings on this motor. Out of the bag, can timing was 49* and drew 2.3a, KV=2520, 17899 rpm, tested at 7.2v. All good there. But, timing was another matter. Average timing was 33*, with A=37, B=29 and C=34. I've never had a motor with 8* of timing variation.
Set to 58* can timing drew 6.2a, KV=2953 @ 19924 rpm at 7.2v. Average timing was 44*, with A=48, B=40, C=45. So a consistent timing variation. I was lead to believe that a "Hand Built" motor would have little variance.
I'm only posting here because there no longer seems to be a web site for Express Motorsports.
