Finally redeemed myself! Went to Fresno this weekend and cleaned house! TQ'd and took the main with the Beast. It was 90* when we started racing at 7pm and first qualifier motor came off at 140* timed at 58*! Then after second heat it had cooled down cuz the sun went down motor came off at 120* and stayed that way. Just cleaned and sauced tires and had fun!

Question for killshot revtech 17.5 based users. What yeilds the best performance, taller gear with lower timing or shorter gear with higher timing?

John,

D3.5 25.5 is a freaking monster! Test ran it, absolutely ran smooth, power delivery out of corner felt aost like a 17.5 motor. This was with the base fdr and timing you gave me.

Which one are you talking about. The HT stator with a HT rotor is a beast. I run mine at 3.8 in my T4 and it comes off at 125* and that's with 55* of motor timing. When i had it geared at 3.96 it was getting warm at 153*seems this motor likes the taller gear and can handle higher endbell timing. . Top end is awesome and the infield rip is nice. I am going to try the RPM version with the HT rotor on the IIC layout this week and see how it goes. Last untried it on a tight track it was not do hot. But the flowing openness of the IIC layout I think it might be good.

The killshot bulls eye HT rotor and the Animal version, both motor I left timing alone at 58,59 degree.

Killshot bulls eye HT rotor, motor was extremely fast & hot, but faded out with FDR 3.65-3.75 near the end of the run, so lap times were getting slower.

Animal version, I have not ran yet.

John gave me the sweet spots to keep the motor at, just wondering what most people prefer, higher timing with short gear or vice versa.

I actually preferred it with the higher timing and taller gears. Dropping the timing and going to a shorter gear both produced higher temps.

Hey Guys... Timing and Gearing, We are liking between 56-57* avg. on most motors and adjusting FDR as needed.
