Hey Tim...

As of right now ROAR has pulled the motors from there approval list as ALL D3.5 17.5 motors are not legal at this time for ROAR events. They were legal till 2 weeks ago, We hope the MFG and ROAR can come to a agreement on this matter. But in the meantime..There are a TON of tracks and series allowing this motor continue to run with no issue as many tracks are suppporting this motor. There is a list started on Facebook of tracks to date that have posted no worries. Below is list to date so far with more coming.

Snow Birds
Tour
Oval Masters
JConcepts
Venom Clash
Motorama
Hooter Chassis Outlaw Tour
R/C Madness

TRCR Tacoma, Wa
Mike's RC World, Bellingham, Wa

For Touring car Blinky I would start about 4.30 and adjust gearing as needed, More flowing add 1 tooth and tighter tracks may require 1 less. That and 22-24* endbell timing is a great starting point. Always try gearing to pull 3/4 length main straight to allow best straight speed and infeild punch combo.

Hope this helps...

Had my first outing(practice) at our lockal track today. I must say that i'm very impressed with the driveability and power out of my 13.5 D3.5"Zapper" motor. i only managed to gear it to 4.36(waiting on more pinions and spurs) and it was barely warm after 10min. of driving. I was fastest down the straight and everyone thought i had boost activated on my speedo(We are running blinky class) can't wait to explore it more when i get more gearing options in the house Thank's alot for the help with the starting points on gearing and endbell timing

Glad all worked out, Thanks for the feed back..On a larger flowing track you may find yourself close to 4.10-4.15 when settled. We have run as low as 4.10 area in some US track that measure 175X100..Just keep working on the gear slow till you find the magic spot (Top end/infeild punch).

Good luck...

Sucks to see my home track has outlawed the motor. Although they only said Trinity on the site, I'm pretty sure any D3.5 is included. Thats only in the NR class, I would assume I could run in the open 2wd class when I start racing?
