You can never have too much power.....so I blame it on the pipe.

Well, getting the motor too cold isn't a good thing, as it will possibly crack the magnets or it could cause the glue holding the magnets to become brittle....
My tests gets the motor down into the 40s or so....keeps the motor NICE and cool.....and is a lot less messy.

Ritchie,
On my Reedy quad mag I was gearing about a 5.98. Pretty much a 6.0 final drive with a reedy quad mag. You can normally gear the quad mags to the moon and still have awesome punch and top end with no sacrifice in midrange. I didn't want to gear up because I had so much overall power and it had great punch comming out of the tighter stuff. I could have geared up for sure, but there was that thought of the longer runtime as well. Therefore I stayed where I was at. And you saw how fast it was right after a bebuild!
Interal ratio shouldn't have to do with anything on the way it spools up. At least not a noticable amount. The Final Drive Ratio is the most important. All motors are different. Even with the same teardown and setup! Hope that helps ya out dude.
