Yep I gained about 3-400 rpm using all aluminum screws and a ceramic rotor spacer.

I don't use teflon shims as they are too soft and deform. I use aluminum.

I don't get why motors are still being built with Teflon shims (vs brass or other harder non-magnetic materials). Deformation has been a problem since the brushed days. Smack one wall and the Teflon shim is ruined. I better get some proper shims ordered for my new motors.

You can get a pack of 100 aluminum shims from trinity for a great price. Ditto for the ceramic rotor spacers.

I think teflon is just a sales thing... akin to the latest fancy fishing lure, catches more fisherman than fish...

You will.

I'm going to test the "Long" spec 12.5 high torque rotor next and see how that goes.

Hello !
I'm looking to buy a 21.5, but i am a little lost. Do you you think that there's a huge difference between : horsepower, horsepower max and the maxilla ?
I will use it in xray x1 !

I have raced an X1 going on 4 seasons with a 21.5. 21.5's are HUGE horsepower in an F1 car. Any 21.5 will do the trick. I'm still using an old Novak - pointless to get the latest motor unless you are running USGT!

In fact several good drivers at my track went down to 25.5's and went FASTER. Some other drivers reduce their throttle from 100% to 95% and others run under sized pinions to reduce the crazyness.

Yep, but in France, no choice you have to run with a 21.5 motor.
