Default Oval Tuning!

Eric,
When tuning a motor for 12th scale oval racing ......could we break in the brushes using a heavy spring (purple) and then switching to a ligter spring
(red & green) for the actual race? Dont lighter springs make more RPM?
Again thanks for your help!
Jeff

No lighter springs produce more Torque and less RPM. Heavier springs do the opposite...More RPM and less torque.

Eric, I just ordered some more of your F brushes for my C027's

Talking Tamiya Speedweek update!

Hey Eric,

Wish you were out here in Tamiyaland USA. so you could help figure out these 23 turn motors for us. Their the Tamiya RR chrome can motors. Torque motor!
Ran "F" brushes and red springs all around and the motor had plenty of rip but after looking at the brushes they were getting discolored a bit from the heat.
Motor coming off hot! Close to 200 F. Running 5.4 FDR. I may wan to back off a little bit just to save the motor. Any other suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks!
Max

Guys, you may want tot try and take a little off of the trailing edge to reduce the amps and lower the heat a bit. Eric and I did this on our KD's 2 weeks ago and it really helped. Good Luck.

They work great in the Monsters and CO's and ROAR stocks. I have also used them in my C2 and KD 19 turn motors with great results. Hope this helps.

Hey Max,

You may try what Pooky said. It will drop the amp draw down and temps. You may need to gear up though. If you want call me tomorrow from the track and I'll see if I can help you out some more. Also if you are using a lot of brakes try going to a purple/red spring. It could be that your getting the brushes hot from arching if your using brakes.

Yes, your absolutely right! Were running spools so we are using brake at a couple of the corners. I'll try both suggestions. I'll let you know the results or give you a call! On the brushes was that the trailing edge on both the positive and the negative? Or just the positive?
Thanks again!
