Hi, how do you guys get your motors to go the same after it's first rebuild.
Got a few new EA's (dialled) monsters and they pull around 9-10Amps. After a few runs I rebuild the motor using F-lines and same springs but the amp draw drops to 7-8Amps.

BJ-two things before EA gets back on.

1. Lathe. YOur lathe could not be cutting as well as it should. Thats HUGE!! When my lathe went out of whack, 9-10 amp motors started to draw 5-6 amps.

2. Break in time. Did you break them in for say 300 sec at 2volts and a fan? My motors start a little low on amp draw and climb with the latest f-lines. I think the brushes may be just a tad harder and take a little longer to seat on the brush face. For example I just broke in my C2 with f-lines. Started at 9 amps and after 200 sec it was pulling 12.0!!

Just two things to try. if it can go wrong with these little motors-I will find it!!

I ask myself the same thing too, but when you get the motor the magnets are at there full strength if you over gear the motor and it get too hot the magnets get weak each run the motor get and the hood get out of line and with a stock motor there is were you get most of the power, now that is my opinion.

Ray
for sure on this one
the amount of guy`s i see with misaligned cutting tips & holders
guy`s have the `Band` wrapped around the winding & not the stack ,if on winding it causes vibration which translate right through to the comm leaving minute lines when cutting
doesn`t matter weather it is bearing or V holders on this aslong as they are clean re lubracated between cut`s no probs
but the `Band` thing happens quite a lot in the pit`s

i can get the same amps after every rebuild give & take a amp or so

break in
me perssonally can`t be arsed with this sitting there hearing the whining motor buzz around
i just fire it up put it in car to out laps it`s bedded that`s me

lathe though ,most important

I also though about the band, the only problem is when cutting stock arm the band will most of the time go on the winding, how do you get away from the band riding on the wire.

line the pulley on motor shaft so it doesn`t
when on 27t arm it`s the bottom part of stack to ride on ,not the closet one to the comm

Excellent day with the EA Komodo Dragon and EA 3800's at Barham here in the UK. 2nd in the A. 767's with Purple red springs and geared at 5.5 and it was as quick as anything else in s straight line and out of the bends. Just got some handling issues to sort out with my Mi2EC
Cheers Eric and Microtech!
