Default Roar Stock ????

What max temp should this motor be allowed to run at? So, using an IR temp gun, the motor temp should be no higher than..............?

Is there such a thing as a sweet spot for a motor like this one - a running temp that is ideal?

(not sure what motor your asking about.. but for the monster stock motors....)

last sunday.. me and a teammate ran our stock motors. after our main, we temped it at 163deg F for mine. and his was 166deg F. we finished first and second in the a-main for stock the motor looked fine. no discoloration on the comm or brushes. the track was outdoor parking lot. medium traction, swept, no spray. straight away was about 130ft. track temp was around 100deg F with ambient temp in the low 70s. let me know if you need anymore info.

oh yah, we had chinese food for lunch.

When you guys shot your temps did you aim at the armature or just at the can?

Dont aim anywhere chrome or too shiny. Aim it in the can, endbell or put a sticker on the can if its a chrome jobber. Totally innacurate readings will occur.

Yea, if the chrome cans are clean and shiny then when you shoot them you are actually temping the temp itself...lol. Of course, that's with an IR gun...

I'm looking forward to the new F brushes as well. For some unknown reason I put like 6 pairs back a few months ago and now I'm down to my last pair. I didn't do it for any reason since I had no idea the F brushes would be crap, just got lucky...haha. I can tell you this though... assuming the new ones are as goos as the first two batches, I WILL have some spares put back ASAP. I LOVE the F brushes. It's so nice to be able to run 3 times, skim the comm and run

Thanx, that will help some to be sure.

This is an EA ROAR Stock motor.

I'm asking because I'm thinking it's high time I started paying attention to the motor temp. I've yet to burn one up, but I want to be able to get the most out of the motor with gearing.

I know one good way to check is to see how the the motor temps are after a couple minutes of hard running. I've got a a IR temp gauge, but have no idea what kind of temps I should be shooting for.

Is there a motr temp considered "too high"?
