Default Reedy quad?

Any suggestions on this motor for springs, brushes, etc. Have you ever tried to get this motor to go fast? Right now I have purple pos. green neg. and using 767's. Any help would be appreciated!

Depends on the heat and track size....... if it is pretty warm or a large track it sounds like your springs are too light and won't support the motor at high RPM. I would step up to a Fantom Black or Trinity silver on the Positive and a Purple on the Negative. I would try either the F brush or the 767.

Fred brought out the lap counter last Sat. and he said he will bring it out next Saturday so we will have a gauge for our adjustments!

Maxepower...

That spring setup sounds a little strange.

Try either Red+/ green- or purple+/red-.

Purple is hard, red medium, green soft.

I run an EA monster and ROAR with 767's on purple/red. I have a Team scream quad mag in my box too, that has Purple/red.

Personally, I don't like Quad mag motors. I find them difficult to gear, and have next to no braking ability... but thats just my viewpoint.

Ahhh gotcha.

Still reckon it would work though

Does sound a little soft on the -ve side.

actually, I have a question regarding spring tuning myself.
If i was to run say a softer setup to normal on my motor (ie red/grn instead of purp/red) would i get more torque/less rpm? or is it the other way round?

I'm just wondering about tuning motors for different tracks, ie flowing outdoor (say fdr around 6) versus tight indoor (fdr around 8.5), now i've got a handle on how to sort out gearing and spring/brush combos.

Regards
Ed

i've always seen it as

harder springs - more torque

softer spring - more rpm

Default reedy quad

this motor not quite the same as the others ;;reason big fat comm
a green spring on a reedy quad could be the same pressure as a red spring on std comm size

reedy comm diameter is bigger so the brush doesn`t go down the brush hood as deep as it would with a std comm size

That makes sense because the stock springs seem very light!
I got 6.0- 6.5 spring pressure on the fiddle stick for both pos. and neg.
I just thought if you might run more pressure on the positive and less on the negative, just like the monster stock?

Hey Max,

Set them to 6.5 for the NEG and 7.0 on the POS....and try that. It should work good that way. Also use a 2-2.5mm hole in the brush...Its big and hard to drill but it works the best. Gear it BIG...lots of pinion!!

Default ROAR Carpet Oval Nats

I ran EA's Mt Fuji 19 turn motors, and his batteries at the ROAR Carpet Oval Nats last weekend. Finished 3rd in the A. The motors and batts were awesome all weekend. I had very good luck with the XXX brushes. Thanks EA!!!
