Eric does the orca spark just install into the car or does it need to be programmed somehow . seems like the throttle acceleration is slow ?

Hey Justin, the spark has to be adjusted to add punch and other things. I got one from Eric and I love the hell out of it. Big difference between the spark and the rs.

Am I able to do this with the buttons or does it need to be hooked up to something?

You could find PY setups at quantumracing-rc.blogspot.com.

I run Offroad either 13.5 stock or mod and I always start with his as a base.

Various setups from him or Hagberg, every time I got a setup before the firmware update is out.
I consider he (can) use every bit of power the esc/motor/lipo can handle so I try a little lower to start with then work my way up on timing and turbo to fit the track.
Then Drive freq and punch then brakes.
Telemetry is nice to check max temp and rev after a run.

He use a fan on speedo and motor (Orca launch a fan mount and large fan for motor for that matter), it helps.
Also ceramics motor bearing if needed.

Justin you have to get the program box to adjust settings on the spark.

You can adjust the Spark with the program button. I've got the USB link and the program box as well. Most of the time it's faster to use the button on the ESC. The only function of the USB link is updating the firmware, which was last revised in 2011.

Any word yet on what the base timing on the ORCA TX 17.5 motor is? Mine was running pretty well at IIC with 15deg of timing and FDR of 3.6 so that tells me the motor probably has more than 30deg built in. Wondering how high people have pushed the FDR and timing and when the efficiency curve starts getting steep for the timing.
I only run in blinky classes.

25 degrees of base timing. You can go up to 3mm past the last notch of timing which puts you at about 60 degrees. After that it starts to stutter and overlap.

Looking for some setup/gearing help for my ORCA Vritra ESC, for a Reedy 13.5 boosted application. Outdoor asphalt track (Tamiya America), medium grip and bumpy surface with a 100' straight away. Can anyone provide a starting point for a FDR and boost/timing/turbo?

Thanks.

For those that want to use the ORCA TX motors for ROAR events.

Only the endbell with "R" is ROAR legal.
Only the endbell is different as the original endbell is slightly too big.
