Default The one 17.5

Hi I have a team scream 17.5 that has been set up for Tc and I'm looking to set it up for carpet in an xray xb2 . I wanted to know your recommendation for timing and gearing

Typical TC timing is 44 to 46* That should be fine for a buggy.

If temps are over 140 and it fades or can't jump a double the whole run then drop the timing to 42*

As for gearing it will depend on the layout.

We were 26-76 with a tight infield with a short straight and lots of jumps at 42*

Default Gearing on F1

I've been everywhere from 3.13 down to 3.79. Runs way to hot until I get to 3.79. Then it's just to slow. Timing was set at 47 degrees on the sheet. There is no way to put a fan on it. Any ideas what to change?

What size track are you on?

On a 88 x 40 carpet track that is very technical I run a 32 or 33 -92 with 48*
I actually have a fan and a heat sink... temps were 130*F

What car do you have that you can't get a fan on it?

If you drop timing, 38 to 40*, you can get away with more gear and it will run cooler. The lower timing and more gear may give you more on larger flowing tracks.

Same size track. It's the Serpent Sf3.

I run a Roche F1.
My fan is mounted off of 1 of the fasteners for the upper pod plate.
Looking at a pic of your type F1 you should be able to get a WTF fan in there, maybe at a 45* angle.

At what motor temperature will I benefit from running a fan in WGT-R? Or...do you recommend a fan regardless of temp? Thanks.

I run a heatsink and or fan on everything I can fit it on

If you can keep the stator/windings 10* cooler the resistance will stay lower and rotor strength higher

Adhesive wheel dots

My son loves to decorate them...lol...

I like having them on so I can see how much my front tires are turning, I'm getting old and looking from a distance at the tires/rims I don't have a good judge of how much stearing I use It's also easier to see if the tires chatter entering a turn.

Wayne says, and I quote "I'm too old for 13.5, been racing 29 years and counting."

That being said, either 80-83mm @ 41degrees with a 4 line or 70-72mm @ 48 degrees are both good options.

That is a misquote... going on 39 years!!

With that said... Those are pretty good starting points, if anything maybe a 78mm at 40/41* if the track is technical
