What ESC are you using and what size of track? Sometimes the best bet is to find the fast guy at the track with the same esc as you and see what he says.

I would start Nemisis 17.5 at 20* Motor timming... 5.0 FDR ...Tekin Software Vegas 200, .02 delay..NW8... 25 Timming Boost ...15 Turbo boost..Make short run first time out check temps...Should be no more than 130-140*in 3 minutes.. then comtinue to complete 6 minute run looking for final temps no higher than 160-165*. Adjust timming boost + for more speed punch and - for more infeild punch. Then Turbo adjust as needed..I always set turbo to have motor full rev/peaked just at breaking point on main straight away . Too much Turbo is excess heat and wasted if your braking for corner and car is still trying to pull foward,Just like overgearing. This is where I usally always start amnd NEVER have HP issues...

Hope this helps...

thanks man, I have just gotten into this carpet racing and have no idea what I'm doing with the Tekin speedo, so the fact that you made it so detailed helps a bunch, thanks

Comment:

I think EPIC is slimy for running an ad that looks like an article in the magazine it was published in. In the Dec 09 XRC pg 97, the ad is formatted to look like an XRC review. Yes there is an "advertisement" in small print at the top, but really!!? come on EPIC. One could say the intent was to deceive readers into thinking XRC reviewed those motors and really liked them; or EPIC felt like stealing the format from XRC because they were lazy. Whatever the intent was, the result was craptastic, congradulations on another job well done. This was even better than your battery "C" rating ad where the letters S,M, and C were oddly bolded. You should be .

Marketing techniques vary, some work and some dont. Cant really get too angry with Epic for trying something different.

ok, ran the nemisis 17.5 for the first time tonight and it seems to fade rather quickly.... when comparing it to the duo 2 .

Im currently running 102 spur and 41 pinion w/ 1.9 internal ratio = 4.8 final drive. Has anyone experienced this and does anyone.. maybe even a trinity rep have any thoughts or advice on this.

I have run timming on 15, 20 and even 30 and it just seems to fade. Im running 1/10 scale with Ko speed control

I run that same combo and have had no fade problems, probably have to get some more info from you, like which profile are you running on the KO? I have my motor set at one notch over the 0 mark, I have been running either Drews setup or "The one" setup, but don't turn the SC timing up past 5, 6 seems to be over timed, no matter what your motor is set at, and drop about 3-5 teeth on the pinion. I did this and never got over 120 on the motor and it had wild power down the straight and good punch in the infield.

I have a duo2 13.5t using it with a tekin rspro. The can has 9 timing marks and there is a zero on the 5th mark. I have looked online but no-one could give me a real anwser to what timing the duo2 come standard. So what timing is the 5the marking with the zero, what i have read so far that it is not zero timing but negative timing. Also what timing advance is each marker? I have really good results with the motor but no idea how to go further with it to get just a little more performance out of the esc and motor..

Hope someone can help me out

I loved my duo 2 - 13.5 and love my duo 2 17.5 even more.... i have timing turned almost all the way up on my 17.5. two notches from the top.

I heard that zero was actually negative on the nemisis... but I didnt hear that for the duo 2

This is going to sound a little weird but here goes. The "0" mark on the motor is actually retarted timing, the next notch is about as close to true "0" as you can get, and the motors are most effiecient at the setting just between notches 1 and 2. (Thats with no timing advance via the SC). Now what the actual timing advances are, I have no idea, but does it really matter? I mean its obviously advanced and with all these new Speed controls and their ability to add timing, nothing really can be applied twice and be consistant. Every situation seems to need different settings, so now more than ever the clock, your temp guage (motor and battery) and feel of the car is more important.
Sorry it doesn't give you a actual hard number and I know why you would want it for accumulated timing, but I got nothing. Hopefully one of the actual EPIC guys can supply you with those numbers.
