Matt Murphy, can assist directly with rotors at dirtoval9@aol.com or check out, http://www.tqrcracing.com/ ,+1 on Mike's recommendation to find the right gearing first, then add timing to fine tune. Older rotor version seemed to prefer up to +10* enbell timing also. Hope this is helpfull.

looking for a 17.5 motor for a 12th blinky class. Used to run a murf and would like to again. Can someone recommend a rotor size for this application?

Hey Mike,

Thanks for the assistance this weekend; adding a few teeth on the pinion definitely made a difference. Once I get an ESC with stronger braking capabilities, I think this motor will definitely get the job done. Next time I race I'll continue to adjust the timing and gear to find the right FDR.

I dont have any firsthand experience for 17.5, but in 13.5 12.5 High torques were the way to go, so I would imagine it would be similar in 17.5

Supercharger packs were awesome again this weekend, allowing me to TQ and win at Horsham's Fall Classic trophy race from some of the best on the east coast!

My understanding is you'll want a RPM-low Amp draw motor that I'm sure Matt can build for you. Please contact direct at dirtoval9@aol.com and provide the intended application information. I know he'll be able to take care of you.

Finally got the opportunity to compare the Murfdogg 10.5 to a Trinity D3.5 10.5 in blinky TC - the motors ran identically on the clock, although the D3.5 faded a little less during the run. I'll keep experimenting with gearing until I get the feel I'm looking for. Switching to the 12.5 rotor definitely improved the braking into tight turns, and made the motor feel a lot smoother overall.

Special thanks to Matt for assisting me with a small probelm I had with a sensor board - it's reassuring knowing that each purchase is backed by good technical support and customer service.

Same for me for carpet med. size track. I would like to know the direction also?

I hear 12.3 HT rotor in a D3.5. Not sure about a Killshot or other motors

micrors4guy: sorry to hear you wern't able to get a hold of Matt in order to obtain the motor you were searching for. Wished I were stateside to assist. Wish you the best at the track and enjoying racing in the future.

Mugen10: agreed, I believe the 12.3HT rotor is the way to go, as several East Coast 1/12 scale racers have mentioned trackside. This rotor also works well in 1/10 Sedan TC on larger tracks.
