Glad you're ok, Mitch! It will probably be at least
a week that people will need to use your school.
What a way to get a vacation, huh??

Oh there you are Downtown!
Stay by the phone, and leave when they
tell you to! Post when you can so we know
where you are and that you're ok!

I don't know where Fiesta Island is, but they are
opening it up for people and animals. Motor homes
allowed too.

511 (phone #) has road closure information for San Diego area.

having beein in the Canberra firestorm a few years back, I am sure all the guys I race with locally understand and I personally do, the frustration and fear some of you may be feeling. We are all thinking about you and praying that everyone involved in our sport, our friends and family are safe. No loss of life is "good" so I hope everyone can stay safe.

Puddle, I've seen the fires in Australia on the news. Keep us in
your prayers!

I'm the worst one to keep track of the fires, I had to get a
map out! My niece, the nurse, can't get home, but she's ok,
staying at the hospital over-night to help there. Her 2 babies
are with their dad at their 2nd evacuation place, but they are
safe for now. My sister is still packed ready to leave, lots of
fire around them. They aren't safe yet, but will head out east
if they have too. Del Mar fairgrounds is now full with evacuees.

I hope the rest of you will post where you are, and if you're ok.
Haven't heard from Hase since he was on the forum.

5- C130's are on the way tomorrow from the Dept. of Defense.
Should have been here today!! Going to be a long night,
winds are still very strong!

We're gonna get through this AE14yr.old, just lots of family and
R/C family friends in harms way. The fire-fighters are working so
hard!! Keep them in your prayers!

I totally understand...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2003_Canberra_bushfires and http://canberrafires.xsnet.org/ .. the photos from Kambah are just 2mins from where I was living (believe it or not, closer too the fires)

thats what we had in our home town back in 2003, it was a nightmare come to life... trying to drive home to my house, and it was just red and dark, all the car radios where on the emergency broadcast sirens and warnings... we were not prepared at all... Sounds like, while it is still horrible, your country, with tornado's and the such are more prepared for this sort of thing...

Keep Safe.... Don't know what else to say... :|

Little bit of good news before I go to bed!
I believe they said the San Marcos fire is under control,
NOT contained fully, but not spreading. That's where my
2 grand-nieces are!! ( I think )

So, that's 1 out of about 20 fires! Better 1 than none!!

In every german news the fires in Cali are the main theme. Seeing Arnie on every channel.
I can't expect how horrible this must be!

Good luck for all

Like puddle said,

Having been through a similar sort of thing in 2003 I know what you guys are going through.
It's also tough as you dont sleep for days either.
My thoughts are with you guys.

Skinny, glad you checked in and you are all ok!

Haven't been able to talk to my sister yet this morning,
but I did get through to her work. Her very elderly
in-laws were evacuated from the nursing home last night,
so they have gone to try to find them. My family
appears to be OK, just evacuated to all different places.

The winds are a little bit better today. Helicopters and planes
will be able to get in the air, at least for a while. They are
reporting 1000 homes and businesses lost in the San Diego
area, and that's just a quick guess number. The fires in the
mountain areas are still going strong, many homes lost there.

Keep checking in guys so we all know you're ok.
Hope to hear from Jeremy Hase this morning!

Ebi, we make the news there one way or another!!!!

513,000 now evacuated in San Diego, another 12,000
on the voluntary list.

Haven't heard from Hase.
