Mr. XLB- You guessed right, my friend. Because we switch our track around so much, there's usually not a lot of grip. I used to run purple/grays or purple/white but, sometimes there wasn't enough bite for those. I couldn't imagine running dpink/pink at Cyrul's track. Not sure if I'll make it this weekend.

whaddup Jason, It was close but one lap is still pretty far lol Chris was rippin, after XLB hellped him gear right he pulled off a low 8.9 almost as fast as my 8.8 . he fell of toward the end though.. Keep in touch so we can go to some good races..

wingman, If you run on medium-high bite traction then you will want to run the stock 16.5lb springs along with the 2.7lb middle spring on the rear "U" bar. At this time Im running an Associated shock with 50wt oil and a green spring.. I run 10deg front caster blocks, 18lb front springs with purple or magenta fronts and pink or grey rears.. If you run on high-super high bite traction then you will want to try the 17.5lb springs along with the 5.8lb middle spring, you will also want to mess with your shock oil and spring and also try 20 or 22lb front springs. You might want to run plaid fronts and grey or white rears...

Knapster, yeah I know, Im in the process of changing web hosts.. this one has been giving me problems lately and its slow, lots of BS porn hackers on the bbs, my web hookup wont be here till this weekend to help me out...

XLB.. Very true my friend, sorry i didnt call you back I will today... The XLR8 chassis and carbon fibre will be done in about 2 weeks... cant wait, this car needs to get out there and kick some asscott! oh yeah, let me know about going to Josh's track this weekend, APl and Tim are headin out to do some nitro and I will be a loner....

Dennis... Yo bro, sorry I couldnt get back with ya yet, I will today ...

Hi guys, thanks for the replies. What items have you guys used to make the side links from? Are there any particular items that you would recommend? Cheers, Chris.

Jesse:

Hi,

Long time no see!!!!!!!!!!! ran into some of the guys from up your way last weekend. if you get a chance call me.

Wingman2:

Hi,

for the side links we used the TC3/4 lower shock mounts (that's all we had at the time) and they work really well. if you have a LHS that sells planes you can use the Rocket City ball ends that look like the link ends on a Rev4. or if you have them Rev4 link ends. we ended up using TC3 Ti turnbuckles but any style should work (my next car will use Xray ones).

Thanks

Thanks again. Once the kit arrives I will do the usual stuff like sanding the edges and superglueing them, etc, etc. I just wanted to get the items that you know are going to work well from the start. Our 12th season is over at the mo (only a winter, indoor thing here in the UK) but I will run it at our local club a couple of times just to get a feel for the new chassis. I'll let you guys know what I think once it is up and running! Cheers, Chris.

First off Ide like to say that Jason and I had a great time at Josh's track this weekend. It was nice to run on some regular high traction carpet for a change... Jody Flipsy, Jason (Doodad) and I were all running our D12's in stock since that was the biggest class for the 1/12th scales (I have not run stock in like 2 years ) anyway Jody has been running at Josh's for awhile now and has his D12 hooked right up--- its a damn shame that after he got the car from me *free none the less* he was using it to help Walter Henderson make his copy version of the super hot D12--- thats cool I can dig it, we all know who are friends are round here!! anyhow, Jason (Doodad) qualified 1st in the B-main and his car looked very good, he drove excellent. Jody qualified 4th and I was right behind him in 5th.. I still had glitching problems the whole time and I think its all in the reciever so I had to take my D12 off the track, Ill be sending that out along with the smoked VFS-1.... Jody almost took 3rd place but stuffed it right towards the end...

As far as touring goes, I struggled a little with traction, the first round I had a monster set of double pink/orange- double pink at size 2.285 and the car was real nice but had a slight lift to it so that slowed me down allot... In the second and third qualifier I had changed to a set of small purple/ plaid tires, but when I ran I had a screw that was grinding on the right front CVD from the bottom of the C hub, so it made the car act like it was diving in the corners ( I think the tires would have been fine)... so after all the crazy stuff happend my first run sat me in 7th position in the A.. For the main I slid on a set of small double pink orange/ double pink tires and durring the run the car felt allot better (should have tried some shims to raise the roll center in the front) and I was moving up all the way to 4th with still 1/2 of the race to go , but I slammed a board and busted another C hub- I was done... It was fun though, had a good time...

Here are some prototype pics of the XLR8 for those who wanted to see:

You can also see a couple more pics at: xlr8 prototype pics

Dennis: Let me know how it went this weekend? Just want to make sure you got the other kit and if you are flyin to Miami

SeaBall: Sorry I didnt have much time to conversate, I will see you at more races this year but Im not sure if I will be running any stock though, Great run this weekend, totally killed em in stock touring!!

Thanks Dennis, I'll let you know when it arrives and I have it all built up. The only differance between where we race and where you guys race is the fact that we are not allowed to use 'smelly' additives. Our 'non smelly' stuff aparantly does n't offer as much grip so it will be intresting in developing the steup to our track surface and additive! By the way, I raced in one of the Florida State races last year whilst on holiday and boy, that additive stinks!! All the best, Chris.

(PS, is there any chance of you guys that run D12's to place some pictures on here??)

Thanx to Diggs to letting an up-and-coming hack travel with him.Also...HUGE thanx to Denney Barlage for letting me run his D12 and his batteries this weekend. Maybe someday Denney will actually be unprepared and need something from me (yeah...right!).

Doodad out!
