Questions??

Hi Tekin gurus

I'm wanting to know how safe is it to run a 13.5t motor on the gen 2 rs spec esc in a road setup ?

I know that the esc is rated down to 13.5t but I have been reading a bit about guys cooking this esc using a 13.5. Is it safe or is it more so these guys are doing something wrong ?

Cheers
Boothy

Is the older Hotwire compatible with the Gen 2 RS speed controls?

Is there going to be a Tekin 1s esc? At the 2013 IIC I asked Randy about it, he said early 2014. Haven't heard anything about since.

All Tekin ESC work on 1s now! Really no need to build anything else. requires a booster or a rx pack!!! Get over it, move on!!!

agree simple life pack is best. They usually have a switch and you just stick the wire in the open Rex port and everything works perfect..

Default Question on data logging

Never mind, I figured out what I was doing wrong with my RS Gen 2, no parameters were checked so it wasn't recording anything. All OK now. BTW I love my RS, RSX, and RX8 gen 2 ESCs. I really like the data logging features. It give me good feedback on motor/ESC temps, RPM, throttle position and helps big time with gearing. Only thing I'd suggest for the next software update or the Gen 3 would be to add AMP draw as a feature that can be tracked. I've seen some of the data logging on other ESCs and it only gives max values; having a time series throughout the entire race with the TEKIN ESCs is a real advantage.

Negative. The Spec is just fine on 13.5 all day long.

I was wondering if anyone else has experienced an issue with the RS Pro (version 1) and D4 motors.

I stupidly blew my Pro 2 so reverted back to my old faithful RS Pro.

I started getting hesitations at speed and off the start line at intermittent times when running my blinky, 13.5 D4, which ran fine with the Pro 2.

I swapped the sensor lead and then to another RS 1 and still had the issue. Swapped out the D4 for another D4 and still had the problem.

I finally swapped the D4 for a killshot and have not had the issue since.

So it would appear that there is an incompatibility between the RS 1 and the D4?

Anyone have any suggestions or experienced the same?

New ESC or have a D4 sale ?

Dave

I had the same issue with my old RS Pro. I would get intermittent loss of power under heavy acceleration. Only a few times per run. In different parts of the track.

I sent the esc in for repair but the problem didn't go away until I replaced the esc.

This was a few years ago with a speed passion motor. Sounds familiar.

I assume you are using a big capacitor on the Gen 1 ESC. The BEC on the Gen 2 ESCs fixed the hesitation problems I was having with the gen 1 ESCs particularly when I was using a high amp draw servo like the Savox..

There should be no issue. However some sensor boards are "cleaner" than others. Try swapping the Killlshot pcb into the D4. As others have mentioned it can be "noise" from the servo on the BEC line also. Some servos are worse than others, a glitch eliminator cap can often fix the issue.

Thanks all,

I have just the std capacitor, where and what would I use instead?

Servos are Futaba.

Just seems weird as 2 D4s have issue but the KS didn't.

Are the D4 boards different or more sensitive?

DC I think there is an issue with the D4 sensor boards.
I have seen the same issue with 2 other D4's purchased recently when used with LRP and Speed Passion ESC.
