Korgae, wassup bro!!! Hey I just wanted to take a second to mention the 3800's I ran last weekend...
At our MSRA Beat The Heat 2005 race we ran both electric and nitro classes so we laid out a big 22'x65' track with 12'-13' lanes. We ran mod sedan and 19t, and I personally only had time to run mod. I ran a DC Motorsports 8x1UL and SMC IB3800's in my Xray. WOW!!!! I gear just below 8.0FDR and my car was stupid fast!! That's not the best part though... I was able to run FULL PUNCH for the whole 5 minutes including a warm-up lap to scuff my tires!! Toastie Toth was there and he was running someone else's packs. He dumped or went soft more than once, so being the good sportsman I let him share my SMC packs. He too was able to run full punch the whole race and one pack still had 60sec left in it!! Neither he or I experienced any sort of drop off in lap times or rip.
In case you can't tell, I'm very stoked about these awesome cells!!
One note- after the first cycle where all cells want to false peak, I noticed the packs were getting a little higher than 125*F (I was running nitro as well so I had my temp gun sitting there). The race was outdoors with air temps in the high 80's and low90's. So I decided to try lowering my peak detect from .03 to .02. The packs never false peaked and the peak temp was right about 125-130*F. Perfect!!!!

Thanks SMC!!
After hearing that story, I think I'm gonna have to go buy a couple new packs. That's awsome!
Discharge and Charging question - Stock, 19T, Mod ?
I just got bunch of SMCIB3806 packs. I see the recommended discharge rate on the SMC website, but is that intended for stock, 19t, or mod racing? I'd like to start separating my stock and mod packs to help keep them in better condition per application.
Also, for charging, should I change my charge rates depending on application.
The website gives general info for all conditions.
For stock or 19 turn packs, you will be able to get more performance out of oyur packs if you dead short them. DS'ing will take runtime away but will gain voltage. Let me know if you wish to use this process, I then can post directions.
For mod racing (or to keep the highest runtime in the pack) follow our site. ( 35 amps down to 5.40V and then 500 seconds of charge in for storage)
Would you suggest leaving the IB3800's on a Much More Raciong Zero tray for overnight? The reason I'm asking is because I have been told this isnt exactly "deadshorting" I did this with gp3300's and it worked real well, runtime was real good too. Just curious, thanks.

By putting them on tray for storage it should be similar to deadshorting. I think that keeping the pack deadshorted should work better than storing it in a tray overnight then leaving it alone.
Danny, How much do the IB3800 cell weigh compared to GP3300?
Also, while charging my new SMCIB3806 for the first time at 6A/30mV per pack, the packs seemed to get a little hot, one went to 135°F(charged on a LRP Comp2, linear, peaked at 4090mAH) and the other to 141°F(charged on a Integy 16x5v6, linear, peaked at 4300mAH).
The pack that went to 141 had a pop at the end of the charge cycle, and then had a brief hiss after 1-2 min. Nothing cam out of the cells that was visible, so the venting might not have been that bad.
Hi Scott,
I don't have the exact weight difference but I will get it for you.
The temps your seeing are in line with what we see.
The pack that had the sound come out of it was on the verge of venting.Believe it or not some of the cells that have vented when we cycle the cells on the TM4 still come out good after venting.
If there is anything wrong with the performance of your pack let me know and we will replace it for you.

Hey Korey,
Sorry for the late reply, I have been super busy.
As Danny said, yes DS'ing will have a better overall effect. I use my ZeroV's to take the pack down after I have discharged them on my GFX to 5.40V.
Once they have been in the tray and the lights are off for atleast 10 minutes I then solder a wire from + to - and remove the pack for storage.
