Hi,

IMO, bearings and TRF shocks are a must have. You may or may not have these, depending on which kit you have.

Which version of the TA04 do you have? the pro, R, TRF, just plain TA04 or others?
What hop-ups do you already have?
Is budget a concern?

It'll be useful if you are able to get a base setup for the RCI track from another racer, coz i know nuts about setup. heehee.
Anyone?

Get the Light weight carbon reinforced Chassis !

Change Spur/Pinion gear ratio to 120/43

If still got any leftover Ang Pow money, buy the Reversible TA04/TB02 arms set !

Setup car must go to RCI track and look see look see what the pro drivers are doing, then copy and try out to see if it 'll suit your style.

PS: How ? did Emerick manage to smoke you ?

Definitely get the heatsink motor mount as you will have to gear the car low given the long straight. I was smoked by other drivers on the track on my first outing because I was using a very conservative 6.4 ratio on my evo 4. I'm now running around 5.6-5.8 using the 23 turn TZ motor. These low ratios mean the motor will get pretty hot.

I also second the recommendation that you to do your set-up at the track. That's the only way to know whether your set-up, motor gearing, tire-insert combinations etc work for you.

The lightweight arms set is not really necessary in my view. I run the standard GRP arms on my evo 3 and the lightweight arms on my evo 4. Bearing in mind that there are other differences between these cars, I actually prefer the feel of the former. For my driving style, the standard arms seems to be a little more predictable around the corners and less twitchy.

Buy good tyres.

A stock TA04 with good tyres, good setup and good driver will be better than even the best hopped-up TA04-TRF with a so-so driver.

The best (=stickiest) tyres that Tamiya make is "Type A", but
for use in tropics it may be too hot & Type A may overheat.

Maybe the Type B is better for when its 30+ deg C.

Currently, the bet is on Type B (the one with the rims)
Bodyshell is pretty much up to you as Tamiya dun have a Stratus or Madza 6
I've temp probed the surface temp at 52 C on a hot day ! ......average temp I guess is around 45 C

Hi ,Ghostfit

You could probably try the NSX body shell,as I think its the most slammed body shell tamiya has to offer.

AS for tires,Type A is good for the morning as te track is a little cold, during the hot and scorching afternoon, you could try ther Tpye B or maybe the B2.If the Type B is waering very fast and you are on a budget, you could go for a harder compound tires.

But the bottom line is to go down to track to test out the the different tires.

The great mystery question now is... How do B3 tyres perform.

2 Major Points.

Do they perform as well or close to Type Bs?
Do they wear faster or slower than Type Bs?
