The OFFROAD event everyone has been waiting for is now here! NOOB Singapore Open Buggy Series 2012 is now officially sanctioned by RCMC and brought to you in close partnership with RaceWorks Hobbies!

Now into it's 3rd year, NOOB continues it's mission to grow the EP offroad community together with you!

Details are just about firmed up for NOOB 2012 and we hope with your support that it's going to draw even more participants, more smiles and more opportunities to hone our racing skills!

Racing action to enjoy from February to October!
Yup, like last year the NOOB 2012 race calendar will start in February and run all the way to October. The 6 race format we debuted last year will be carried over - where the best 4 results will determine each racer's final series standing.

We're hoping that this will allow NOOB races to become a regular fixture in every offroad RC enthusiast's calendar.

R & R - Race & Relax!
NOOB races have always been designed to fit easily into a Sunday afternoon. This year's series is no different and we'll be running races with one or two weeks break in between so racers have time between events to rest, relax, bash or practice! We think this will be a nice pace for everyone.

Race Fee Updates
NOOB has always aimed to grow the RC offroad community so our races will continue to remain affordable for all! Race fees are as follows:

RaceWorks & RCMC Members : $10 per race (rental transponders at only additional $5 if needed)
Non-Members : $15 per race (rental transponders at only additional $5 if needed)

Rule Updates
As the series continues to grow we're updating some rules to ensure we continue to have fun and enjoy smooth running of the races.

Control Tires - The biggest change to the rules this year! In the effort to keep racing costs down, the NOOB crew has decided to standardize all tires for the 4WD class and the rear tires for the 2WD. This way there is no need for racers to stock and run different tires for practice and racing. I know everyone has their own favourite tires, but after much debate we have decided to adopt JCONCEPTS GOOSEBUMPS as the control tire for it's balance of performance across various surfaces and wear. Unless there are very strong reasons for doing so, this control tire will not change for the race season - although the NOOB crew reserves the right to implement a change if necessary.

Highest Score Wins - This year we are reverting to the scoring system where the top finisher receives the highest points and the highest total (of the 4 best results) determines the series winner.

Marshall Duties - All racers - as always - are encouraged to marshal when they are available, but the OFFICIAL MARSHAL system we started last year will continue to run in 2012. We will be rostering racers to act as "official marshals" for each race. Anyone can be called upon to perform this duty and *everyone* will eventually get rostered - and Official Marshals *are required* to marshal. If they are unable to do so they must arrange a replacement or risk incurring a race penalty... speaking of which...

Race Penalties
For NOOB 2012, race penalties will be awarded if racers display poor sportsmanship or conduct at a NOOB event and these may include actions like cursing or swearing, rude behaviour towards marshals or failure to marshal when called upon.

A race penalty will involve the deduction of *ONE LAP* from the a participant's best run either in their heats or mains. All Race penalties awarded are final and are meted out at the organizers' discretion.

We doubt that these penalties will need to be awarded out often, but they are there to protect the fun and lighthearted race atmosphere we want to enjoy. We thank all participants for their understanding.

Race Dates
With all that said, here are the race dates (subject to change) so book your calendars!

Cycle 1
5/2 : 2WD Buggy
4/3 : 4WD Buggy

Cycle 2
25/3 : 2WD Buggy
15/4 : 4WD Buggy

Cycle 3
6/5 : 2WD Buggy
3/6 : 4WD Buggy

Cycle 4
24/6 : 2WD Buggy

Cycle 5

12/8 : 4WD Buggy

Cycle 6

30/9 : 4WD Buggy

Finals

A thread for registration will be put up soon and another thread for discussions/chat to follow.

Please read all our race details regarding NOOB 2012 here.

Let's get ready to RACE!!!

Wow...I didn't realize wear and tear for a season of racing can amount to 5 sets of rear tires

Maybe I should stock more tires too...

NOOB ANNOUNCEMENT - 19 JAN 2012

Hi all NOOB racers, the NOOB crew have deliberated the request from some racers for a tire transition period in implementing the closed tire rule.

We have decided to allow open tires for ONE race - specifically for the 2wd round 1 event on the 5th of February. For this one race, racers may use any tire of their choice.

The closed tire rule will be implemented strictly from the 4wd round 1 onwards.

Thank you for your understanding.

NOOB 2012 Series Update - 4 February 2012
NOOB 2WD Buggy kicks of tomorrow with our SEASON OPENING EVENT! Join us for an afternoon of hard racing and fun ribbing! With 32 racers signed up it's going to be an awesome afternoon!

Medals are also up for grabs for the podium finishers of the last main!

Registration for the event is open all the way till the last qualifier so if you are interested to run just bring your buggy + gear down to the RaceWorks Arena by 3:30pm and sign up!

1. Race Format
The tentative race schedule for this Sunday will be as follows:
(Organizers reserve the right to amend format)
Heats : 4 Groups x 3 5-minute Runs each
Mains : 4 Mains x 3 5-minute Runs each

2. Race Schedule
Here's the proposed pre-race schedule for this Sunday.

2:00pm - Start Registration
2:10pm - Racers can test their transponders at this time
2:15pm - Race Briefing
2:20pm - Group Photo
2:30pm - Race Start
6:00pm - Race End

3. RaceWorks / RCMC Membership Cards
Members of RaceWorks and RCMC are required to show their valid membership cards during registration. Please do remember to bring them along.

4. Compulsory Marshalling Duty
While we encourage all non-racing participants to head down to the track to help other racers with marshalling, each run will see specific racers *assigned* to be official marshals. If you are assigned to marshal you must be on track before the run starts - if you are unable to marshal for any reason you are required to find a replacement on your own and inform the Marshal IC for the day. Any failure to marshal will incur race penalties.

Official Marshal duties will be rotated throughout the series.

We hope that with this system we can keep the race running smoothly so we thank all racers in advance for your understanding.

More about this will be covered in the pre-race briefing.

5. Pit Space
Tomorrow's NOOB event has 32 racers signed up! Due to the limited pit space, we will be enforcing a strict pit space restriction of no more than half a table each for all racers.

Please comply with this to ensure that all racers that come will have some space to pit. Racers who do not comply will be asked to do so.

6. Practice Time
NOOB race fees will cover practice time from 1:30pm onwards up to the end of the race. If you wish to practice on the track before then or continue running after the race, please register at the RaceWorks store to do so at a special happy hour rate.

See you guys at the track!
