Default Ultimate Electric Race

Ultimate Electric 1/10 Open Touring Race

Electric tourers here might want to know ...

RCSpeedway Electric Open Challenge!!!
14/07/2002

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Upcoming Race: RCSpeedway Electric Open Challenge!!!

RCSpeedway is planning to introduce a monthly 1/10th scale electric open race at its track in Jurong. A total of 3 classes will be raced. For all racers taking part in each class, there will be prizes and lucky draws (like a Schulze Electronic Speed Controller) to be given away. These races are open to everybody and open to all cars (with exception to the Tamiya closed class), so we highly encourage beginners and veterans alike to join in the excitement. Take note, these races is not a series type and no points are accumulated. As the title mentions, its an "Open Challenge", everybody is most welcomed to try and win each and every race!

With an established track, RCSpeedway aims to promote RC racing in Singapore, as well as to heighten awareness of this exciting hobby among the masses. As for our island wide RC enthusiasts, it means we will always have races to have our fun! This open race is to be held on the Sunday of the 2nd week of every month, with the first race starting on the 14th July 2002.

A total of 3 classes will be run each race, they are:

****** Class 1: Tamiya 1/10th Electric Challenge ******
This class is for owners of Tamiya car kits. With controlled motor, this is an especially good starting race for beginners who can get a taste of racing at a much more even level! At the same time also allows them to race with experienced drivers who can perhaps show them a thing or two. Only when they are ready then perhaps they can consider to join the 3rd Class - The Ultimate Challenge!
Rules:
1) Open to Tamiya touring/sedan/rally cars only (2WD/4WD)
2) Original Tamiya option parts allowed only
3) Tamiya Sport-Tuned motor only
4) 5 minutes heats and finals
5) Maximum 6 x Sub-C cell 7.2V batteries
6) No restrictions on bodyshells and tires (foam/rubber allowed)
*NOTE: Prizes sponsored by Tamiya (Tai Sing Corp)

****** Class 2: 1/10th F1 Open Challenge ******
For those who have always been keen to race F1 type rc cars, this is it!

1) Open to all 1/10th F1 type electric cars (2WD/4WD)
2) F1 type body shells allowed only
3) 5 minutes heats and finals

5) No restrictions on motors (no Turn limit, brushed or brushless allowed)
6) No restrictions on tires (foam/rubber tires allowed)

****** Class 3: 1/10th Open Ultimate Touring Car Challenge ******

Bring it on! With minimum restrictions, its no holds barred for power, we simply want you to bring on your best. With the introduction of so many new and exciting products for touring cars, this is as much a showcase for the latest technology as well as the driving/setup skills of the racer!

Kenji: I just cut that from the hobbylink website (serpent dealer) and pasted it here. They will be the best people to ask. The Tel. No. is at the bottom so I guess anyone can call them up for any inquiries.

But I think if you don't want to buy the Sports Tuned, you can only be classified into the OPEN CLASS. Again, I think the whole point of their "Minimal Restriction" policy is to get racers to join in with "race what you have" - no additional purchases. But the down side is ... most probably, you'll be up against "better equipped" players. Well, they say it's "nn% skill and nn% equipment ". How much? it's debatable. But at least, one issue have been settled - No purchases required, Fit in where you can ...

Anyway, I posted it for everybody's info.

Just to say that the 'restricted' tamiya class in this series appears to be aimed at the lower budget racers and novices (or other ppl who like to live life at a slower pace!)....who make up a very large proportion of our small rc circle. The use of the 'black' motor is a pretty good idea as the speeds would not be so high and equipment breakages and overall costs would be kept to a minimum....

Speed is also relative so having 10 cars going about the same speed and having the same power is really a good test of skill, car setup and race craft on the part of the drivers....which is always a good thing and a good learning ground for all budding 'Surikarns' and 'Barry Bakers' out here!!

Also, I heard that they are re-modeling the Jurong circuit soon, something about 'making it more flowing'. Go to the Hobbylink website forum for more info on this....

http://www.hobbylink.com.sg

If the 'pace' of the stock motors makes you sleepy, there is always the modified class (no motor restrictions) to run. So there's something for everybody here and even an F1 race thrown in as well! Weeee!!!!

Sound Interesting....

Come lah...who scare who...who...

Put my name in for all classes....ha ha....

But Tamiya race put Sport Tuned Motor a bit waste lah....By using Sanyo 3000HV a bit sound funny leh...(Big Fortune Small usage)

Using Type T or R lah, as these motor I believe the current Tamiya racers got mah don't need to buy... ECONOMIC bad leh....

At least can use the $$$ to buy tyres or 2/4 doors body shell mah.

Jack: Ya lah! I'll join in maybe after Impluse Series. If it's gonna be a monthly non-series race like they say it is, then no harm mising a race or two, right?

But one problem ... power supply!

So, are you going brushless?

Jack: this "OPEN" race should be good ... i'll just repeak from a small 12v, should be good enough. I guess i'll just stick to the Sport Tuned class - I live on the "slow lane" anyway
