Tamiya TB-Evo or TB-Evo 2
Hi all,im asking this question on the behalf of my friend,he's planning to get into 1/10 ep touring on road, and he's not planning to spend a bomb on a new racing kit,the 2 cars that caught his attention are the older models TB-Evo and TB-Evo2,he was wondering which is a better car in terms of handling and performance?Well he's not really into belt driven cars, would really appreciate if you guys can give any tips and advice,i cant really answer my friend question as i last played RC nore than 10 years ago. Thanks guys

Any clue on how much the TB-02R will cost? I'm shopping for a new chassis, and its either TA04 or TB01 for me.

No clues of TB02R price. Probably you can find more info in tamiya usa site.
.....and forget about getting TB01.... Unless it's for fun running.

Unless your RC skill is World Champion level, you will not see any difference between TB02 and EvoIII.
I have several EvoIIIs and a TB02, I can setup both chassis to handle identical and make identical lap times.
TB02 is a very good car, all the CF & alloy parts only for show.

Agree with WC.
I have a TB02....almost "R" already. But my skills not good.
BTW, Just visited stargek... and saw a NIB TB Evo II. I wonder why they still have stock for it. Collectors better act fast.

Both are for boss's personal collection, display only.
Stargek forgot to store any whitebox EvoIII NIB kit for their collection but.
Collector olredi hit Stargek long ago...
Right now they're clearing out some old timer static 1/24s etc.
If you like the older plastic kits & mini 4WDs you should visit.
Some good value buying for xmas gifts.

like the whole suspension etc. Getting hard to get spares.
EvoI/II also very heavy, near impossible to get below 1500g.
EvoIII is lighter, lower CoG and smoother drivetrain.
Suspension is all from TA04 (or can upgrade to EvoIV style too).
Even if you find used EvoI/II cheaper than TB02 kit, I'd pick TB02.
It is a far superior chassis, no fight. Or get an EvoIII.
I love EvoIII and it works well for my style of trashing.
I have retired all my TA04s and now use EvoIIIs for everything
from drifting to mod track racing and highspeed running.
I got the TB02 just to find out how much 'behind' it is from EvoIII
and was most surprised at how good it is. You lose nothing.
Mine has been upgraded with:-
-alloy motor mount (durability with hot motors)
-alloy steering arm (slightly stiffer)
-aluminium hingepin spacers (ditch the plastic)
-SSG plate (bling!)
-EvoIII universals in front
Even the SuperMiniCVA shocks work well when built correctly.
I have tried with TRF shocks and it drives just the same.

I have 4XTB Evo1, 3XTB Evo2, 3XTB Evo3, 3XTB Evo3 SE and a 2XTB Evo4
My feel:
TB Evo1 is a much better car in terms of engineering, yes it is heavier but it survive crashes much better than the Evo3 or 4. I have wack mine head on into concreate, crashed with other cars and it still drive strong. That is why I got so many of this car. Just love it so much. As for spares, stargek still have them as this car uses parts from TG10R, TGR and TB01s'
TB Evo3 / SE, too much problem with the front one-way diff gears, strip too easily, especially in hard crash so be prepare to stock up on the gears. Unless its a Surikarn, the normal TB Evo3 looks NOT as value for money. Yes drive faster and handles better but poor crashing survival
TB Evo4, must change the whole drive train to get a crash proof set up. The plastic drive cups breaks too easily till Tamiya had to release a metal ones for them.
TB Evo2? Parts are from TB evo 1 and some other Tamiya gas car, its the Alloy bulkhead that is unobtainable should you break that! Otherwise a much heavier car than the Evo1
In the end the decision is: Cost of cars verse spare parts. All top end cars are limited production so dun expect it to have parts for more than 2 years
If anyone is interested, FOR SALE a complete set of Tamiya TB Evos 1,2,3&4 all NIB for SG$3000.00
