Default LIPO Battery

LIPO battery users,

As we speak, my friend and his family nearly ended in tragedy due to a exploding LIPO battery in his car while he was driving.

The explosion measure about 8 feet into the air and virtually burn his car to the ground. However in the nick of time he manage to save himself and his family to avoid such tragedy cause by LIPO battery.

I will update more information including photos to his situation.

At the moment, I have sent numerous emails to ROAR, FAMAR, IFMAR, FEMCA and EFRA to call on the BAN and seriously investigate the sanction and should LIPO battery be allow in any form of RC racing.

DT

That is bad. Did he placed the lipo batt in a lipo safe bag? I know it is not fool proof but I do that as a 1st line of defence.

I do not put lipo in the boot as the High temp in a car boot may cause it to catch fire.

I am glad that your friend and family is alright.

Thx for the infor but I doubt roar, femca & etc will ban it.

Gp is also dangerous but not ban even nimh is dangerous if overheated or charge wrongly.

So I guess it's the same as Lipo if misuse or misplaced.

Just my tots pls dun flame me. Lol.

aiyoh nobody's flaming anyone lah. awareness.

superek4,

forget about the ban............in the event of fire..........fire brigade and police are involved. forensics/investigations are involved. if the findings are not in favour............

then, company and those involved might be a law suit should those concern brings it to court. there's a possibility here and not so negligence if that's not the case and if the battery is faulty.

if the incident is in spore..............then it will be a bigger case..............as authorities there have the highest standard of urgency in this case.

So did this case happen in sg?

Also, I've had a friend whose xxx brand car burned and total loss in 6 minutes. Newspaper first page headliners about 8 years ago. They didn't ban cars after that.

I suppose what is in line, is to sanction measures to make usage safer, like for example, non combustible hard cases.

I think it's usually users fault how they use it or where they put.

But this infor allows us to really open up our eyes what will happen if we are careless or bad luck.

It also happened to my good friend, he nearly got one eye blinded by a battery, you know him too (KK Racing)...

But that was only a Nimh battery, 6.0V 1600mAh receiver pack, he was trying to make a hump pack to a flat pack by de-solder and solder it, 'BOOM'!!!

It exploded...

Aiyah didn't know the wire bared somewhere & short-circuited mah. KNN with my flower-eyes was holding the burning hot pack with a plier close up 2 c where shorted & it blew up rite in my face but luckily all the content were blasted away fm my face. All the 5 pcs batteries were totally emptied of their content leaving an empty crushed shell. Carbon & fiber were all over my whole kitchen wall & floor.
Anyway now I running 2 packs done in same way harmlessly leh ! Just hv 2 b careful when working with such high ampere rechargeable battery pack. Wonder Max-racing got battery pack 2 sponsor ??

Danny boss, it was lucky nothing have happen to him; if not he'll be going to a range now (shooting) instead of going to a track...

Cause he no longer need to close one eye to aim, just 'look' at the bull's eye and shoot that's all...
