How to make the EP touring racing scene hot (if it ever was considered hot) again??

I posted this thread due to the seemingly declining local interest in the EP touring car scene. EP racers here are invited to put forth ideas and suggestions that might just spur whatever remaining interest that is left.

Not that hobbyshops in SG are obliged to, but they might just look into this thread and realise that there is still potential in this racing class.

Worse comes to worse, shall we.... create our own race for racers? Will the effort pay off? Please do share some ideas.

Open motors and batteries would be a good start.

tires also open to other makes too.
The only thing to be controlled is brush motor and rubbers only.

It is just a shame. Electrics is losing lost it's teeth already.

If Singapore is Thailand, everything would be much easier. Cos Surikarn is there. He sells and promotes everything himself. It's a gallant effort.

I would suggest you to discuss with respective parties and put your suggestion across. Also anything which is a close race will destined to fail. Cos it is difficult to be seen openly. Very difficult for someone to buy that particular car just to race in that series. Just like the Tamiya race. It offer so much but not a great deal of people would be interested.

So it is very difficult.

I think races in Singapore now for EP touring are rather restricted.

Restriction of motors to 23 turn would be cool to keep costs down.

However I think it'd be nice to have open tyres (rubbers). Cost of certain brands of tyres are becoming prohibitive to some racers.

Here some suggestion:
1: Super Open Series
Any thing goes brush or brushles. Rubber or Form tire also can. Any body TC or Lola can can. ANY Battery. MAY THE BEST AND WILLING TO SPEND WIN and of course Driving Skill must be good also.

2. 23T Stock Motor Open Series: Need to control the motor here. They are some very clever guys out there can super charge their Stock motor?? Instead of Whole Series use one type of brand of Stock motor. Can use one Type of Stock motor for one race. And another type and brand of Stock motor for next race. Tire can one race rubber next one form. (you'll go crazy with car set up. or buy more than one car for different setup ) Battery no control. Most will use GP ???: Race duration 7 or 8 mintue. Like Japan EP race. 8 mintues is very popular there.

3. Limited Close Open.
Control one element of EP car. Can control one thing: close Battery, or Motor or Tire?

4. Limited Close 23T Stock Motor open.
control one element of EP car stuff. Same as no.3

Indoor carpet race also would be a good welcome.

Kenneth. You ask about doing a race by fellow racers.

Remind me of Danny Teh who is organising racers for hes fellow buggiers. You could maybe ask him to put some valuable input here so maybe we could see whether to make it happen or not.

As for fellow EP drivers from across the causeway, lots of them are still way behind in technology. Most of them are just around to have fun.

- Anyone goes. As long its 6 cells/pack
2. Motor
- Can be choosen as stock or mod motor race
-- Stock
Can be either handout/sealed or rebuildable motor. But checking of the motor after a race must be done by someone with lots of experience so to catch those cheaters (not to say there is any)
-- Mod
Anything goes. Brush or brushless.
3. Tires
- Should be open so more people wont have to spend money on another brand just to enter a race.
- Either Rubber or Foams
- Maybe limiting to 2 sets of tires/ weekend race
4. Bodyshell
- Any TC bodyshell could be use
- Aint sure about using Lola (how the width?)
5. Race Format
- Seems that lots of people are in favour of using the X'mas Tree format. What do you think?

For those 'squeeze throttle happy' finger owner who don't do well in races here's an option...for example:
A Drag race.
Weight classified.
6 cells limited.
4WD or 2WD classified.
Motor Open.
Tyres Open.
Ride height...what ride height?
60-80m distance.
Entry for Rookie class $25, Expert class $40.
Certain percentage for Organizer. The rest, winner of class takes all. One on One, time trial (3times), etc.
Easy to organize, instant cash prize. Hows that for a start?

Anything open is most appealing to drivers. I don't really think that EP scene is dwindling in SG. EP drivers are just short of choices right now.

That was only EP scene. not EP touring in particular like Ken mention. But sure is promoting EP.
