Upgrading from Tamiya

Upgrading from Tamiya
My TA04-R tuned chassis kit gave me the impression that it is not very tough e.g parts start coming out upon not so strong impact and plastic parts breaking really easy. Also, I can't seem to tuned it correctly to go straight, the steering seems to change everytime.
I am thinking of upgrading. What do you guys recommend for a budget of about $500? How about Kawada SV-10 sigma, is it a good choice?

You have to ask yourself first,
You want a better performance car or a more durable car.
Doesn't means paying more for a higher end car you get a more durable car.
Good performance car kits are not meant to be knocked or crashed.
How you define strong impact? head on to a wall?
If the steering can't be neutral, change the ball cups and ball end as they may have worn out creating lots of play or it sometimes may be due to servo or servo saver.
If your ball cups of the upper linkages come out easily, then again, the ball ends and cup have worn out. Especially when you are usimg Aluminum ball. This will happen to all cars.
For a plastic part to break, sometimes it is not how hard you crash but how you crash.
I am not trying to protect Tamiya Cars. But I personally thinks TA04-R is a very good car. May as well use some money change the plastic parts then buying a new car.
I personally change all ball cups after 60mins of run time.

leekayliang: i've never had any of the problems u mentioned wif my TA04 chassis...
getting the car to steer straight is commonly associated wif the radio system, servo and the servo saver... if u haf a good radio system, good servo and a strong servo saver, even worn out ball cups will not prevent ur car from going straight...!!!
oso, check the balance of ur car... maybe ur setup is tweaked, dat could be a reason why ur car vears to one side upon acceleration...
parts breakage is common in RC... u lang gah, u break... but the TA04 chassis is pretty sturdy... believe me, i've tested the durability of the car before... driving at nite, pissed drunk... i've introduced my car to the cement curb on many occasions... and most of the time, there was no major damage...

wah we 'overtake' the topic liao....sorry guys, paiseh.
yah, actually if he want to get a 'tank' touring, it should be HPI Sport2 or Pro2. Strongest car.
I got sport2, maybe he want consider a 101 swap? I dun mind....
another 'strong' car is the TL01.................of which I happen to have also....needless to say what I'm gonna say next.

getting another car would not help ur problem.
check ur radio etc...mayb change another servo saver.it can cause ur car to veer off a straight line also...

i think dunno wha the happeed ... was driving fine and was fast ... car super easy to drive ........... then saw a lorry ... then dunno what the hell i was thinkin and WHAMM!!!!!! full trot out of a sweeper into the mini strights infornt of driver stand and wacked into a small baricade supporting the raised up pit pipes
WAhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ... *sob* wahhhhhhhhhhhhh wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh *sob*wahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
my sugession is ... get some practice and get help( someone whos helpful plz help this guy) to set the car right 1st .... try every posible means .... b4 givin up and switching to another car .........
i went tru this path with my OLD OLD car .... and if u wan to compare my old car to ur car(04r) ... i think ur car is 100001 % better anyday any equiptment
same prob with ur car just that mine is due to a twsisted chasis and a binding suspension arm .. and since my car is also kinda not soo good i opted to get a new car.... and u can be sure if it was an o4r i will not have got another car
