Default How poisonous is our Nitro ?

I always store my car and accessories inside my office aircon room, recently my guys came to room and complain of the smell. I told them maybe because of the nitro fume, they told me this fume is deadly poisonous, and is also one of the chemical that will cause cancer if you inhale constantly!

wow they really scare the shit out of me.

so all old timer bros out there, how true is this ?

Please advise

deadly? i guess we must have died several times over by now. harmful in large quantities, yes, but not deadly lah.

i believe the smell is from your car itself. the bottled nitro does not give out a lingering smell......at least not in my case. i keep the fuel in my car boot & study room, no smell there.

Bro u really steady, even provide the lab report, salute you

but no matter what i think is better to keep in a open air area instead of a closed up room.

thank you very much bro.

well bros the lab report that ch3no2 provided is for 100% nitro. but our mixture is about 16 - 30% and normally run in a open space so i guess all the harmful effects will be minimize.. beside singapore govt wont allow import if the thing cos any harm to the citizens!!! rite?

yeah, i think the smell is from your car... burnt castor oil most likely

methanol & nitromethane don't have any strong smells

Sounds like you're not cleaning your car very well.

I got my Savage sitting here in my office... took for run the other day.
When i bring back it is wrapped in big garbagebag until i get time to clean it.
It gets washed totally with detergent and hotwater in the bathroom
then dry & afterrun oil the engine, relube the shafts etc.

Its here now; also got 2 bottle fuel sitting under the desk... no smell

Petrol (unleaded) is more smelly than nitro model fuel.
Diesel even worse and it stays longer - it doesn't evaporate quickly.

only if you've burnt your nostrils so bad you can no longer smell things from breathing nitro fumes for too long - it smells terrible to anyone with a functioning nose

that unless you're totally cleaning and deodorizing your car before bringing it into the office the smell, including the odd odor from unspent fuel that builds up in the exhaust, remains and though you've gotten used to it it really does stink to everyone else.

Bro,no matter how deadly or harmful the nitro can be,is nothing compared to the "poison" of getting addicted to RC.
Believe me,u definetly won't die by smelling some nitro fume.
If yes,i'll definitely die before u,cuz i'm working in a chemical factory which got alot more poisonous fume lurking around.
Don't scare, fyi, there's alot of chemicals in ur daily food.Dun eat?????
Just be happy, and live ur life to the fullest by bashing more..

too much nitro and methanol inhalation will cause nerve damage... that's what i learnt from the drag racing teams...

i suppose if you cap it properly, it shouldn't give out smells/fumes.... the rest is right, it's from the car itself... ever smell you TX bag??

cheers....
