erm, have you thought this quite through before you post?
Salutations Earthlings!
okay, 1st of all, i hope you, SharkGT, are not cliff lett or masami or somebody .
now then, its great that you aspire to be a brilliant driver. its always refreshing to know people genuinely want to improve themselves.
however, do consider this, you can only go so far with your current setup.
i mean, you HAVE to race to improve as a racer right?
thats not going to happen with a msc or a bacon buttie for batteries. you won't improve much by being the end marker each heat?
you NEED some initial investment of your own!
get a good car<and i'm not saying you can't get around with a tl01, ask BK or Charles, we KNOW the TL01 kicks ass.....>
real batteries, practice loads, go join races like a rabid wombat, win some races and impress the sponsers, have a great sporting attitude whilst you're at it.....
THEN, you get sponsered.
i think thats about how you eventually get that top notch equipment from people....
-FP
then again, do you really want to be sponsered? you'll be EXPECTED to win races, can you actually have fun that way?
ain't this HOBBY all about fun?

SharkGT : Hi there,
its commendable that you set such high goals for yourself in this hobby, good for you. However, I hope you bear in mind that this hobby is still about the F word..... FUN
Bear in mind that with sponsership, comes 'free' cars, 'free' tires etc. There is no FREE lunch in the world, with sponsership comes RESPONSIBILITIES, PERFORMANCE quotas etc. There can be great stress from basically spending other people's money, even if you are good.
Your current setup sounds good enough for your purpose, just continue to practice braking points, judgement of racing lines with your car.... if anything, the TL01 is quite tolerant of hard crashes. Yes, higher end cars like the Shumacher Mission has better suspension geometry and are fully adjustable... BUT these things are only useful after one can drive the car consistently enough to feel the difference from setup changes.
For an illustration of the potential of the TL01 chassis, you might want to watch the July Tamiya Championship Series race at Nacos Speedway. The TL01 class cars were turning in 'ahem', very respectable laptimes compared to their GT counterparts. To add insult to injury.... the TL01 were using 23 stockers compared to the modified motors in the GT
P.S Apart from good driving skills, a good sponsered driver usually has bags of PR skills. Just ask anyone who knows Tang Fa to verify hehehe.
