Im just curious about the car performance and not to the drivers.

Well as i said being a noob is very humilating

thanks for the quick reply and giving your nice explanation!
hiya novice4ever,

it's not humiliating to wanna learn, it's humiliating to remain ignorant deliberately, so dunt feel that being a noob fulla questions makes you silly. the quest for knowledge sets you apart from those who choose to remain ignorant.

to answer your question, kelvin khng is an awesome driver, he doesn't make mistakes, he drives fast and hard, he sets up his cars well, he makes sures his cars perfrom at max at all times, he practices hard.

ah, yes, in the hands of a consistent driver, the car makes a difference. it's hard to say if he could be faster with a cycloneS or mini. the mini has limited rollout, but at its best, it can run as fast because of it's incredible gear ratio (5.6 or 5.8) if i'm not wrong. you could gear a cyclone S in the same ratio, it will run faster because of rollout.

we are talking strictly straight line speed.

You do not have to worry about this in novice class, people like nic, kelvin, kenneth, tony, the fast drivers, the're skill has reached a point where competing against novices is pointless and absoulutely no fun for them. that's why they join the 23t class, where they can better enjoy the competition. to go neck to neck against another driver, plunging their cars into the turns, trying to sneak past each other, waiting for openings to be exploited. this is the thrill of racing. you will find similar thrills in novice class, simply that the cars are slower and more manageable for novices.

because of the nature of novice class racing, the m03 and tt01 or whatever other car is deemed to be equal. consistency is more vital because the cars are ALL slower even if you ran a super geared upped cycloneS, if you keep making errors and are slow at completing laps, a slower car might win if they consistently finsh laps without error.

again, the race is within yourself, to be able to finish a race and walk off the stand, telling yourself you have raced your 110%, you are already a winner. you have maxed out your car. you didn't damage it in any way. you are ready for a faster car and more challenges. if you keep driving at your 110%, you will be in the podium before you know it.

many things affect car performance, even poor maintenance will make you go slow. in our hobby, we want our cars to go fast, it's all part and parcel of your hobby experience, to drive the fastest you can go on your own car.

Er. I was never fast. I just enjoy buying things. There is only one car for you. Let's bet on the new faces that will outrun us. I say Ziheng and Marcus (sorry if I missed out any new faces who might beat the crap out of me).

Unfortunately Team Redline Roosters have withdrawn from the endurance race due to its team members having to attend to other last minute priorities.

Have a good race guys!

Well as i said being a noob is very humilating

thanks for the quick reply and giving your nice explanation!
I am a newbie too... I think that it does make a difference for the Pros. But as the top end cars are more responsive and precise, it is also less forgiving. So for newbies like me, the top end car may be more difficult to drive. Also, the set up of the car is more crucial for the top end cars.

I cannot speak for Kelvin but I may be driving faster with the M03 than a poorly built and bad set-up Cyclone.

But it is a novice race and hope that you and your friend will take part in this one. Ultimately like what Foampevert mentioned, it is to have good fun and learn from each other.

I believe that the element of FUN is crucial to a hobby...like RC. Without the FUN factor, I would lose interest and GAME OVER.

So join us in this race and I am sure that you will enjoy it and we can all learn from each other. Regardless of the car....

Im just curious about the car performance and not to the drivers.

Hi N4E,

There is NO SHAME in being a noob.
I hope Singaporeans will erase such a mentality because it hinders self-improvement.
There is no stupid question, just stupid answers. Ask the right question at the right person to get the right answers.

Every single good driver out there started as lousy drivers. It is which path you choose, to arrive at becoming a good driver. Usually the guy who spends the most time at the track learning from the faster drivers will become better drivers faster.

- The fastest way to improve the driver is to try his best to drive well
using a normal car.
- The easiest way to improve car setup is to use a good driver who can already drive well consistantly.

You refering to Kelvin Khng right? not khang?

Have FUN... thats the most important!
