Default TA05 Offroader

Hi Guys, recently just fix up this TA05 offroad version. Got this idea after seeing that the 501x can share some of the parts with TA05, so why not getting my spare TA05 to convert to offroad version. So i discuss with a friend and decided to use some of our spare to convert it. So here is some of the pic.

Managed to run it on BK track, which this chassis suppose to join in for a race, but got cancel due to rain. So i try running it when the rain stop and the track still wet. Handling was good. So now waiting to run it on dry road.

Don't think it's possible to change it to monster truck.

had the good fortune last Ninja race (cancelled due to rain) to test drive this Offroader. I'm impressed! It handles very well even in the wet ground.

Well done Aegis!

Looking very good indeed. I am unsure if the belts will be able to hold up for long though when you go off-road.

I have did a lot a conversion mainly in GP buggy into truggy years ago when the word truggy wasn't even invented. lol. Mainly for the fun of it and thats what this hobby is for.

Great Job anyway!

Now I wanna see some doing this to their TT01. lol.

Most of the parts i order from RCmart. Some parts can be order from stargek.

Parts you will need
1) 78mm 501 CVD shaft x 2 pairs
2) Extra rear shock tower(to replace the front shock tower)
3) 55mm tie rod x 2 pairs( 1 for the rear upper arm and 1 for the steering)
4) 40mm tie rod for front upper arm.
5) GPM alu. Front/Rear swing arm for wild dagger.
6) Alu. Front/Rear upright and C hub for TL01/M03(Any brand will do)

For the damper, you can use back the original damper which my friend did. I just change a bit on the DF02 front shock since i have it laying around.

Hope the parts won't scare you off, we did the change as we have most of the spare that need to convert it to offroader.

Thanks for sharing about this conversion.

Many may not agree with me but the off-road conversion of TA-05 may seem to be a good choice than getting a DB-01 as the hop-up / upgrade parts (both Tamiya and other after-market manufacturers) are readily available for TA-05.

I particularly dislike the inconvenient / weaker suspension arms mounting for DB-01 (Tamiya just can't get it right...) as compared to TA-05 / TRF501X style. Other than the lack of a Spur / pinon cover and the slipper (optional), TA-05 off-roader does seem to be a great conversion project.

IMO, I agree that the DB01 arm mounting is design is weak. But using TA05 to convert mean that the shock tower is not tall enough for the long shock to be use. For me and my friend, we didn't have the intention to run it off road(more likely to run at BK track) so the shock problem is not a big deal to us. It's more like a fun project for us to try on.

Cheers,
Sorry, didn't take any vid or pic of it. So far run it on wet condition on on-road track, no problem in handling.

so in general, The new DB 01 is it a good buggy compare to the old DF 03.
