can we do it again?
hello everyone!
I am certain everyone enjoyed the thrills and spills of this event and the fact that everyone was challenged with limited resources. it just goes to show how dedicated and creative you guys are.
can i have a show of interest if something similar is being runned at BK's track?
only this time, you get to build the car!
this is how its gonna run:
teams will each buy a f103GT (58376) and 3 packs of 2400 stick packs from the organiser and the timer starts.
as soon as the team has completed building the kit, they may put it on the track and start clocking laps.
at the end of 4 hours, the team with most laps wins!
teams will have to provide the following items:
-radio set
-Esc
-tools to build the kit
-damper oil or grease
-battery charger
Items not allowed during the race:
-using own tires and inserts
-using own wheels
-use of any hopups including tamiya parts
-use of hop-up screws
-use of hop-up gears (both pinions and spurs)
Car may be repaired if damaged, but addition of new parts is not allowed (you may glue, bolt, fuse the broken bits together, but no replacement of parts)
The kits must be built as stated in the manual, no deviation is allowed, kit tires, inserts and rims must be used but glueing if allowed.
Damper oil is allowed on the friction damper and damping plate
All driver must have driven at least 1 full battery pack.
thats about it...
let me know if anyone is interested or if i can amend the rules to make it more exciting.
this is a tentative event and if there is interest i'll go get it organised.
thank you!
Appreciate your input!

LC 70 use for race is damn SAYANG...
LoLa cover is better in handling.
Battery use 3300mah at least. Now where got ppl use 2400 liao.
Motor = Silver can.
Total time = 5hrs (Consist of Fix up car = 2hrs, Run = 3hrs)
Anyway, to run this race have to spend alot.
Please consider....

Gp C cars
Another alternative is to run the Gp C cars...they have finished bodies and their stock tires work on the track too.

I would suggest buying the kit as a better alternative. I'm sure that there are a lot of people with GP3300 packs, since they were highly recommended for their lifespan.
Team will supply their own 3300 packs, escs, charger, radio. Kit & cover will be purchased at the shop.
2 hours to get their car up from box is acceptable; breaking in motor, spraying cover, gluing the tires, & assembling the kit.
How many driver per team? What is the duration of the race? How much is the race?
F103GT is an alternative to TC, being that it's more affordable. I think the whole point is to keep the spending down and to get more people into the circle.

4 hour enduro
hello Alvin and Eric,
Yeah, i thought about the cover, the Tamiya part number i included is actually for the new courage f103gt kit. it comes with a pre-painted body.
teams will have to use other means to identify their cars.
another plan is to have a mass rallye.
using tamiya m-chassis
to set up 2 driver stands (temperary scaffolding will do)
then we squeeze as many teams as we can on the 2 driver stands... possibly have up to 20-30 teams participate.
it is unlikely that all 30 cars will be on the track at once as the teams will have to build up the cars.
in this version, drivers are allowed to repair and change tires but all items (parts and tires) MUST be bought off the shelves, pre-purchased items are not allowed (it will be unfair for teams to come prepared with a stack of ready made/race tires) and teams are also allowed to use any motor as long as it is bought on that day, again from the store.
batteries are still limited to 2400mah stick packs as it doesn't seem feasible to have larger capacities... it'll take forever to charge.
just some ideas, anyone interested?

hhmm
thanks for the input everyone.
the reason for the controlled batteries is so that the race is not biased towards equipment.
obviously, a team prepared with 10 battery packs will be better then a team with only 3 packs.
it is also not viable to have 3300mahs as they take too long to charge.
2400s can be charged in about 15-20 mins.
teams only need to buy 1 f103GT, 1 body shell (if not using the LC70 kit) and 3 2400 mah packs... thats not too bad for a 3-4 man team, right?
the rest of the equipment is the Team's own equipment.
how is that?
