Thumbs up Family Hobbies On & Off Road Racing In San Diego

We finally held a mock race tonight! And it worked. We did run a full race and next Friday is on! Everyone try and be there by 5:30 if you can, we want to get signed up by 6:30 and start the racing by 7:00. Timing system is working great, the layout right now is pretty good. Surface is coming in very nicely too.

So everyone show up Friday so we can finally have a permanant RACE facility in San Diego again!

The address is:
Family Hobbies
9367 Mission Gorge Rd.
Santee, Ca. 92071
619-448-6847
Next to Rollerskate Land.

-Onsite hobby shop
-Restrooms
-Power
-Pit Tables
-Air compressor
-Tire wash area
-Food in the same parkinglot.

Classes will depend on who shows up with what.
Probably will have an Open Novice class (buggy and truck mix) then an Open Buggy and Open Truck to start.

What did you guys test? Truck and Buggy? Sorry, couldn't stay, family in town. It would be good to run 4wd buggy too, so I can hand out some woop with the yok.
What kind of turn out is expected, and how many were there? The track is super loose, is it starting to settle, or will step pins be the choice. Can't they get some clay content going? Anyway, stoked its coming together finally.

We just mixed it up but We'll probably do an open truck, open buggy (4wd included) and mixed novice. As far as the dirt goes, they'd have to rebuild the track to do clay. You weren't there this past summer when the track was really bad loose. Steps will work well. I've been running Losi IFMAR Studs front and rear on the 4wd buggy and they're hooking up well. They weren't at first but the surface has changed slightly and they've started hooking up well.

Im glad to hear that they are finally gonna start racing, with Numan telling me to get a buggy, and the track finally racing, I think I'm gonna have to dive in...

Jon-Thanks for the info. I'll try to make it this Friday, but with Hobby Central this Sunday, time is limited, so we'll see. The lot behind the familie track looks good, maybe we could get them to do a parking lot OnRoad race there too?

Actually, if you've ever looked real close, that surface is horrible. I wouldn't put my car on there if it was the only place in San Diego. Not sure if I'm going to make it Sunday, still up in the air. But Friday for sure.

Damn, didn't take a close look at surface, only from the drivers stand.

Oh and what is the deal about transponders there? I have one, but does everyone else? Seams like it might be a problem for Novice racers.

What happened to you getting a 4wd with me? For now though we'd probably still end up in the same class. One thing though, 5-6 cars max racing on this track. We had like 7-8 in the second run and it was just nuts.

That's propably what I'd be looking at is a 4wd...

I say throw 10 cars on the track at a time, just not in my heat

With 8 on there, I couldn't go a lap without being right on someones ass at least half the time. 5 cars was pretty good though. You gonna go Losi for the buggy or get a Yok from Steve if you do it?

It would be great to keep the 4wd seperate. Since the track can only handle a 5-6 cars at once and most guys that have a 4wd have a buggy, it would be great to be able to run more than one class. With the Losi's and Yoks, it seems like there would be enough. We really only need 4 cars for a seperate heat.
