I have made a recent discovery on this.

My tires were filling up with dirt from the little holes in the wheels. I posted another thread about that a while back.

I've since covered the holes in the wheels with green masking tape on over dozen sets and put little holes in the tires instead and now my tires aren't coming apart as much. Still happens a little bit but no way as bad.

Seems that when the hole is in the wheel, the expanding tire under centrifugal force is acting like a vacuum sucking in dirt. The weight of the dirt not only throws the tire way out of balance but where ever that dirt gets concentrated in the tire causes the tire to separate from the wheel because the extra weight is just ripping the rubber of the glued surface.

At least that's half the battle but I'm still trying to decide what's best for cleaning.

+1 on the acetone and fresh glue. No sanding or scuffing. I use to struggle with this. Not anymore. I will say it is important to get glue on the back vertical lip of the wheel. I have seen a method where you would glue the front side of the tire and then remove the foam and turn the tire inside out. Then, glue the back of the tire that is visible to the wheel. I have not had to resort to this method but have it on file #acetone+freshglue

Loctite 406 glue and carby cleaner. Also using any brand other than proline will help keep them on the rims too

makes no sense since acetone is used to dissolve glue? Or am I missing something

for me brake cleaner works better than simple green for glue prep
