It's great to see VBC has collaborated with RC Crew Chief!

*Check out VBC Racing's Facebook page for more details.

Want to know if the chassis is flat after the car assembled?

Good to hear that, if I get a chassis after assembled which is not flat, can I get replacement? I know sometime is the cf chassis or the parts hole not aligned correct making tweak.

I've built four and never had a problem, so not sure.

I finally got my D09 last night and will begin the build tonight. Are there any build tips or anything I need to be mindful of when building this kit? By the way, I'm loving the VBC brand so far. I came from running Tamiya and replaced my fleet with a VBC Ghost RM, VBC Lightning FX (now an FXM) and my most recent addition was the D09. The D09 will replace my tired (but still worthy IMO) Tamiya 417v5

The only build tip I can think of, is be mindful when you're running aluminum ball studs into plastic parts. It should say in the manual, but can easily be missed, to make sure and run a steel screw to pre-thread the hole first, then use the aluminum ball stud.

Oh, another possible tip is, don't use the o-ring on the diff. I've had the best luck with only using the paper gasket.

Hi Ryan
Could You please explain what the difference should be with and without the o-ring?

Thanks a lot

Well my build of the D09 was going fine last night until I got to building the front spool. It would really help if they had threaded it LOL. Luckily, I spoke to Alex from Gripworksrc.com where I bought the kit and he helped me out. Thanks Alex! Now on with the build!

Essentially what I was trying to say was, the instructions call for the use of both the large white o-ring and paper gasket on the diff. I never install the o-ring and only use the paper gasket. Doing this has kept my diffs from leaking after a lot of use. I can't explain the exact reason why the addition of the o-ring seems to increase the likelyhood that the diff could leak, but I've had good success leaving it out Hopefully that was the information you were seeking.

Take care,
Ryan

Thanks for explaining Ryan.
I must say that I have been racing with VBC cars for 3 years now, and not one leak at all, with the o-ring and the paper gasket installed.

Have fun

Søren,

I guess it's possible that the initial leaky diffs weren't actually due to the o-ring, but once I went to paper gaskets only and didn't experience leaks, I never thought to go back and try
