Questions:

#401665 aluminum shock caps (2 pieces). How many of these do I need for the car (don't have it yet).

Any other upgrades recommended initially?

How about good to have spares?

Thanks!

Their is a fine line with roll center on high grip or low traction condition.

I believe those aluminum shock caps are included in the kit. They are the caps that are on the heave dampers. The starter pack seems to be a good start for spares. #401729. I'm looking forward to when the spring kit will be available. I think the roll damper springs are going to be an important tuning aspect.

Yes. Haven't run it yet though. Still have to get the electronics in it and a body put together. Looking forward to get it on the track.

I just ordered my 4X and everything else I need to get back in to the hobby. I am planning to run on the local carpet track 17.5 2S Blinky Class running Jaco Blue's. Can anyone point me to a setup that would be a good starting point?

Go with the stock carpet setup initially as it's very neutral and then you could try Erhbar's latest carpet setup:

Are there any online shops that sell parts for this car other than the US distributor?
