We use handout Red Dot 15K motors, all matched to within a few percentage points of each other, and stock 61 spur with a 20 tooth pinion. Muchmore speed than a box stock motor, but less super in the duper than a full race motor.

Thanks for the tips Geppetto. I will check those things. Even though I run an IFS-R and a TF-5, I was so impressed with the TT-01's simple and durable design, I bought a TT-01E to play around with. On the surface, the new steering system looks to be much improved.
Back to the regular TT-01, so you think the aluminum steering set would help anything? Not just for the sake of hopping up, but it does look like a more precise part.
On your spec racing, do you use silver cans? If so, you allow the super duper silver cans out there or if you don't, how do you "police" it?

I have never used the alloy steering set.
In our spec class, we only allow TT01 and TT01e chassis and a few hop-ups: any oil filled shocks, alloy drive shaft/cups, ball bearings, turnbuckle steering tie rods, any motor heat sink, 7.2 or 7.4 cells or LiPo, and any electronics. There is no weight minimum, but you cannot cut the chassis to lighten.
Gearing is fixed 20t pinion, 61t spur. All motors are blind draw hand out Red Dot. Any 1/10 scale Touring or GT body. Jaco Blue pre-mounts (our hobby shop sells the Jaco Blues for $22).
We run 6 minute Qualifying and 8 minute Mains.
The racing is close, competitive and a lot of fun. Best part, new racers can get in at little cost and these cars NEVER break.
BTW, we also have loaner cars w/radio etc. So, anyone can walk in off the street ask for a loaner and become addicted.

I recently purchased the Tamiya adjustable upper arms for my TT01 so I can run some camber on my front wheels. I've installed them and now have the camber I wanted, but it made the front wheels have significant toe in (which I definitely don't want).
What are my options?

Timbulb - I believe the Tamiya Turnbuckle Tie-Rod Set for the TT-01 is the part that will remedy your toe in issue. The Tamiya part number is 53662.

stitchy: See rccardr's comments regarding motors for our spec class. He and RayK. actually started our series and Doc provides his "World Famous" Red Dot Motors.

Thanks I just found that kit today at my LHS. I had never seen it before, but I guess I wasn't really looking for it until now.

Which TT-01 kits are short wheelbase? Just curious

Pretty sure the only short bodies that actually came as a kit are the BMW Z4 Coupe and the Porsche. The Audi TT and Toyota MRS are also shorties.

That's good advice, Larry. I've used older blue long TRF shocks for the past year with internal spacers that limit shock length to about 55mm end to end. With 4-5mm ride height, that gives just the right amount of droop.
The Super Mini shocks (either TRF of plastic) work just fine, too. It's the long plastic sedan shocks that don;t seem to work well because the shock body is too long.

I ran a regular width TT01 last time with 1mm red spacers behind the wheel. Had to check the nut each round to make sure they were tight, but otherwise all was OK. I was TQ and won, so it worked pretty well.

Do you guys think the TEU-101BK can handle a modern 27 turn stock motor?
