Foam Tire Repair
Has anyone tried using a mixture of glue and the tire fur from a tire lathe to repair a chunk? I know a solid chunk replaced using shoogoo is one method but mixing the fur with glue might be a different solution.
Thanks

Basically, when I buy a foam tyre, I get ca glue or superglue and just cover the sidewall in glue. With my foams there is almost 0 chunking.

I've used contact cement adhesive.
It works well on large chunks and doesn't get hard like ca glue.

to answer your question. it makes the tire to inconsistant. there is not enough solid mass to create a good friction point. if you can find the tire chunk on the track use speed sew not shoegoo, using speed sew( found at any walmart or fabric stores) allows the tire the flex that is needed, the other stuff creates a hard spot on the tire surface.

If you have any older chunked tires, keep them. Using a razor blade, cut a piece off of the donor tire slightly bigger than the missing chunk. Then, using shoo goo or fabric glue, press the chunk into place. Once the glue has dried, put it on a tire truer and re-round the edges and take a couple passes along the tire to get it to the exact shape you want.

No you can't use the fur from the tire lathe and mix it with glue to use as a filler for "holes". Does not have the right structure.
To patch chunked out holes, you can use another piece of the same type foam and glue it in with contact cement then true it round. Contact cement WORKS! It's also softer, better than shoegoo or CA.
