Serpent 705

Tech Adept
I run an Airtronics 357 servo for steering and I run the balls facing up also, I did not like how close it got to the belt the other way. On my Impulse it had chewed up the front belt and I have run them this way for 2 years + now with no problems.

Thanks for all the help .
I am now on step 9.3 with the control rods. The holes in the small metal collars are actually smaller than the control rod, thus making it nearly impossible for me to put them on the rods. Do I have to drill out the holes or something? Also, should I use the spring that came with the kit for the control rods or should I use a piece of fuel tubing?
I'm not too sure if I have the centax clutch and all of that setup correctly, I guess I won't know until I fire up the car.

I think I remembered drilling to make the hole in the metal collars bigger on the 705...
I use spring. Not fuel tubing.
You will only know if your Centax clutch setting is correctly installed on the track.

Now, I measure the length of wire required and open the servo and remove the lead. I then shorten it and resolder and if I need more length I just replace the lead with a new one (I do this every 6months anyway) of the correct length.

909407 Shock O rings
In case anyone didn't notice, this is just out. Apparently it makes the shocks for smoother action. And the colour is purple too

Serpent 705 Article in Xtreme RC (June 03, Issue 91)
Finally... Some write up and publicity on the 705 in the mags... Overall good but the technical information on the internal drive ratio part is flawed and thus the final drive ratio too...
Even with my own non-santioned mods on the 705, I cannot possible make the internal drive ratio to 2.88 !! Lowest I can get is 2.2727. Serpent USA should have screened them throught before publishing it.

ExtREME rC Article
I just read that also D, I liked the rankings in almost every area, and as far as the 7 goes, He needed to stay out of the boards.
By the way, The track he was testing at is at Revelation Raceway which is hosting the Roar Region 12 Championships May 16-18th, and the Roar Sedan Nationals August 7th-10th. Nice facility !!!
I will be going to both with a small contigent of racers from AZ !!!

But yes, a few people here have been complaining about the Ellegi wheels... Not had any experience on cracked Ellegi wheels myself but probably I don't use them often enough. I'm using Nitro Shoes at the moment and I'm very very satisfied with the traction performance and wear...
And yes, I think they also made a mistake on the hardness of the Ellegi foams supplied. It should be 35 shore rears and 40 shore fronts.

I am not sure what tires come on the American or other 705's but in the UK they come supplied with 35 shore front and rear.
