I just dug out my old f103 from my shelf of mothballed cars. I think this car or part of it was one of the original f103. 10 to 15 or more years old.
installed a 27t cobalt, 8yr old lrp f7.1 (rebuilt) and stuck in my tamiya spec 3300 non matched batteries, very old f1/gtp rubber tires with air gap. and had the old Tamiya Toyot GTP body.
Wow. I made a test run down the street and could barely see the car!! it was a red blurr. it will probably look slower from the drivers stand during the day light.
I will test it out at Tamiya tomorrow at their fun race. It wil be illegal because of the tires. I will have to change them to rubber as soon as I get the parts. too bad tamiya didn't leave well enough alone. The f103gt car is not the car it used to be. the good thing is all my hop ups will transfer to the new car.
I may try foams just to give the 415 mod drivers somthing to worry about.!!

f103 report
Ran at Tamiya Saturday with my f103, I had problems getting the tires to hook up. they were all over 5 years old. Diff was ok at first then after a couple of spur gear swaps, I forgot to bring diff lube and ran it kinda dry(dumb) diff was locking up. and car began to loop coming out of the 180.
Overall it handling was good I had a hard time finding the gearing for the new cobalt. it is a high rever and temps initially were 214 degrees, put in a p2k2 and got temp down to 190. then broke an
A ARm. Immediatley left for to p/u the new courage kit.
The new f103 gt has been improved over the old 103 f1. stronger A arms, it has new spacers to lower the ride height front and rear. and most importantly there is more room for batteries. I can fit 3800 side by side config.
I have a set of sorex 36's on order. love that new body and can't wait to try the new car.

I just finished a 2h 45m race with my new F103GT. We ran Take Off 20R's with the thin insert on asphalt with the temps in the 60º and surface temps in the 80º's. The car only pitted 7 times with 2x 4200's, 2x 3800's, and 3x 3300's. First pack went almost 40 minutes! We ran the silver can motor with 93/22 tamiya gears and an HPI Porsche body. Our car was pretty close to being the best of the GT2 cars (6 others ran in this one make class of F103GT/Mabuchi/Porsche body).
We set the fastest GT2 time and were only 1.45s off the fastest GT1 time (any 4WD, any brushed motor, any rubber tire). The car is a solid performer and with some additional tuning and preparation I think we can close the gap and have a very consistent car. We suffered in one corner that was a hard 90º left hander off camber. We had to tip toe through that corner but usually over cooked it. Also the car could have used a slightly softer set up. More on this if you want the details but the car was more or less stock.
The podium was owned by the GT2 class as we pitted less, had fewer mechanicals, and less heat issues. This is a great chassis and for the price and speed from a $14 dollar motor is pretty amazing considering the all-out 4WD cars had well over $1000 in their cars.

I got the clear Courage body. Not painted yet...
However,it will not fit the F103GT standard kit unless you purchase part#9000030, the bumper from the Courage kit.

From what I was told Tamiya sold out of the clear bodies last both the complete body kits and the seperate bodies sans sticker and bumper. I guess they are also sold out of the bumper kits. It is not enough info to say but it does seem like these kits are gaining popularity going into the winter. I hope the momentum maintains as this could help many people stay in the hobby.
I know we are expecting several others over the next 2 weeks and it may become a farely healthy class on Sat.
We had 5 of these running last weekend at tamiya 4 with courage bodies wuth various paint schemes and it was a blast I have been a little burnt out over the past couple of months but after running last weekend I am excited to run again.
Also on a durability note these cars are super tough I would say even tougher then the old F-103 F-1 cars when it come to the front suspension. I clipped a board end through the chicane like 5 times at full throttle sending my car into the air and only bent the steering rod I was extremely impressed.
I know we are expecting several others over the next 2 weeks and it may become a farely healthy class on Sat.
