YES motor spray will burn if the motor is running just ask my eye brows. While cleaning motors over a trash can I dropped a motor that was running on 3 cells in the can. LARGE blue and red flames are not fun in the garage. my wife just laughed at me, as I tried to put the fire out with a garden hose.

carb/choke cleaner sounds like it might work really well, is there any reason to buy the super expensive motor cleaner, or do these other options work just as well, will carb cleaner hurt the bearings, or any other part of the motor.

Or should i just quit whining and get some proper motor cleaner.

What does eveyrone use; epic 888, duratrax?

Save your money just go down to your local K-mart and get a few cans of non chlorinated brake cleaner for $2 a can it's far cheaper and just as good as $5 RC motor cleaner.I always keep a few cans around.

disassemble motor, spray it onto the arm,can,and endbell, let it soak a minute or scrub with soft toothbrush then rinse each part in warm running water. dry using hair dryer or i use motor spray but the original question....reassemble.
cleans motors like new

After reading through those the Wearever Brake Cleaner looks like a good solution. The other choice would be the CRC CO contact cleaner...

Never tested any of them...

I use Brakleen, comes in a green can, used for cleaning off the brake hardware, rotors, drums, i decided to try some and its great, does not leave the whitness, kind stinks though

what i was really trying to do is if i can find somthing in my house that would practicly alwayz be there like lysol(what Dodgersfan said)

I stopped relying on my LHS to have spray in stock, instead I've switched to Electri-clean found at my local home depot. It says right on the can safe on all plastics and is made specifically for electronics. It must be the same as stuff I was using since it cleans and evaporates very well the same way, just has a different label. I think its made by CRC, and is $2 cheeper than the hobby lable stuff.
